Start Slideshow Stop Slideshow Next Image Previous Image During 1986, General Motors acquired Group Lotus, the UK based engineering consulting and performance car manufacturing firm. The Corvette division approached Lotus with the idea of developing the world's fastest production car, to be based on the C4 generation Corvette. With input from GM, Lotus designed a new engine to fit in place of the L98 V8 that was powering the standard C4. The result was what GM dubbed the LT5, an aluminum-block V-8 with the same bore centers as the L98, but with four overhead camshafts, 32 valves. Lotus also designed a unique air management system for the engine to provide a wider power band by shutting off 8 of the 16 intake runners and fuel injectors when the engine was at part-throttle, while still giving the ZR-1 375 hp when at wide open throttle.In addition to the engine, Lotus helped GM design the ZR-1's upgraded braking and steering systems, and helped them pick the settings for the standard "FX3" adjustable active ride control that Chevrolet was fitting to the car, helping to ensure that the vehicle was more than just a modern-day muscle car with a big engine and no real capability on the track.The car you see here is an extremely clean, 22,000 ORIGINAL mile example of the first year ZR-1. The car comes with a clean Carfax showing no issues and an unblemished past. Finished in the best color combination of red exterior with red interior, the car is in nearly new condition with no notable imperfections. Outside, the original paint is in near perfect condition with no major imperfections. The nose is nearly perfect with no major rock chips or scratches as you can see in the photos. The front and rear bumpers are both in near perfect condition with no damage or imperfections. The car does have the removable glass targa top which comes off with no problems and seals as it should. All of the wheels are in good condition with no curb rash and wrapped with nearly new Good Year Eagle F1’s. Inside, the red leather seats are in near perfect condition as well. The bolster shows a very minor scuff which is common for these cars. With the exception of that small scuff, the seats show no wear, rips or tears. All power functions work as they should on both seats. The carpet is perfect as is the dash, steering wheel, door panels and center console. The only thing we’ve found that does not work is the stereo. The car comes with its original Corvette owners manual and leather case. Under the hood, the 5.7 liter V8 is incredibly impressive. Turn your key into Full power mode and hold on. The engine is very clean and unmolested. There is no damage under the hood. All lights work as they should as well as the wipers, horn, turn signals and cruise control. This is an incredible ZR-1 that is in nearly perfect condition. The buyer has seven(7) days from close of auction to inspect the vehicle. If the vehicle is not to your liking within this seven day inspection period then your deposit will be refunded 100%. Once full payment has been received, Seller will fax a copy of clear title, Bill of sale, Buyers guide and additional DMV forms to the Buyer to sign and return via fax.
