Vehicle Detail
Motorcycle is for sale locally, and may sell prior to the auction ending, at which time the listing would be removed. This is a clean bike that starts and runs great. 32,xxx miles. Built as a touring bike, this bike still has a lot of miles left on it… Located near Rice and Larpenteur in St. Paul, contact me to see/test-drive, if you'd like. Work done within the last 3 months: --CARBS CLEANED AND SYNCED (NEW carb needles installed). --NEW BATTERY --NEW OIL --NEW OIL FILTER --NEW SPARK PLUGS --NEW BRAKE FLUID --INSTALLED REBUILT ALTERNATOR ROTOR --REAR AIR SHOCKS REPLACED (one spare remains) --NEW SPEEDOMETER CABLE --INSTALLED FUEL LINE FILTER (bike didn’t have one originally, but it’s a recommended mod). --NEW AIR CLEANER (FILTER) The CHARGING SYSTEM works. I know that because it didn’t when I bought the bike, and after replacing the alternator rotor (no easy task), it does. SEAT is in excellent condition, no rips/tears, etc. Comes with the complete original TOOL KIT (pictured) and User Manual. Currently the LUGGAGE RACK/BACKREST is installed (and is included), most of the pictures show it without. Headlight, headlight bracket and front signal MOUNTS are not OEM, but it all WORKS. Bike has unique 10 gear transmission. Basically, it can be ridden in either the high or low range of 5 gears (standard 1 down, 4 up) and you can switch between the two with a smaller shift lever located above the standard shift lever. Not nearly as complicated as it may sound, because you can put it into either the high or low range and LEAVE IT if you want, and shift as you would any other bike. Known issues; Fuel Petcock works in the “On” and “Off” position, but leaks when switched to “Reserve”. Pretty simple rebuild, I just haven’t gotten around to it. I’ve been getting around 35 mpg, and the bike can go 80+ miles without having to switch to reserve. The four exhaust pipes had all developed rust and small perforations in the same location. I attacked the issue in an entirely unprofessional manner, with muffler repair kits, pop cans, aluminum HVAC tape and hose clamps, and they are all SEALED UP. The fact is, any ongoing restoration, or ‘chopping’ or ‘bobbing’ of the bike would see the exhaust pipes replaced. I’ve seen used OEM on eBay for as little as $100, and brand new aftermarket from about $200 and up. This bike would scream if you put a 4 into 2 or 4 into 1 on it.
