Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my '66 Charger, 440 engine with Keisler 4L60E Overdrive Automatic Transmission, 8-3/4 sure grip rear axle w/ 3.55 ratio It has Classic Auto Air conditioning and electronic cruise control, Power Disc Brakes, Power steering. The vehicle started it's life as a big block 361 ci engine with Green paint and white interior, and now wears a Red/ Orange metallic paint with black interior. The paint usually appears redish/maroon and the orange hue pops out when the sun hits it. Although it has been entered in a few car shows and received trophies, I mostly like to use this car for long distance cruising. From my home in middle TN, it has traveled to the Mopar Nationals and Carlisle twice, and a big trip up to Detroit for the Woodward Cruise and across Canada to their Moparfest, and down through Niagara Falls and over through the Washington, D.C. area. It did receive a Celebrity Award at Carlisle in 2011 but haven't been showing it, or any cars much anymore. The last photo tries to show the window stickers of the 29th Nats, the Carlisle Celebrity Pick, and the 440 emblems. I usually lead our caravan on these trips, using the cruise control to set the pace, and communicate by walky-talkies. The overdrive transmission keeps the engine RPM's down and the Miles/gallon reasonable. Many drivers on the road are surprised to see this old car running in the fast lane, ahead of traffic. The engine is a '69 440 with Comp 260H camshaft, Edelbrock Performer intake, and 600 CFM carburator, stock exhaust manifolds with dual exhaust. Originally having a 22" radiator, I have upgraded to a Wizard Cooling 26" aluminum downflow with electric fans staged to activate by temperature and when A/C is on. I upgraded the basic Classic Auto Air unit to a larger condenser, and a polished compressor. It now cools this black interior car with a lot of glass, really good. The original radio has been converted to FM reception, but I also have installed a Kenwood Marine CD player/radio with remote pendant under the driver seat. I keep the controll pendant on the console, but can hide it under the seat. The Global brand electronic cruise control also has a remote control that is kept between the seat and is pulled out when desired. I have this same unit in another vehicle and like them real well. The headlight motors have been rebuilt and work great now, they are usually a problem on these 66-67's. The Electroluminescent dashboard guage lights are beautiful in their tourquoise glow at night. The guages all work but are not accurate enough to suit me so there are some aftermarket gauges mounted below.. They are a Tachometer, Volt, and fuel guage. There is a Tach in the dash and there is a fuel economy (vacuum) gauge on the console where a clock should be. I think it came off an earlier model Mopar. There is a brand new NOS fuel sender in the tank but it was not reading accurate enough for me. If I ever had the chance, I would send out the dash and get the amp guage changed to a voltmeter, and the Tach and fuel guage calibrated. I bought this car from my Dad. He had it 5 years and only put 260 miles on it. When he was looking for a Charger, I told him to buy the nicest one he could because the the interior "brightwork" would cost a fortune to restore. Well, he did well. This interior is still far from concours, but the dash and trim are real nice. The rear carpet under that back window is fading a bit but could be dyed. I don't worry about it much because it is obvious that this can happen with all that glass. Here is some additional items of interest: Grant "Banjo" steering wheel- Dual Mirrors -Mopar Electronic Ignition- Chrome valve covers- Cool air supplied to carburator filter- Power steering- Powermaster chrome 75 amp alternator- Tires: Front=P21570R15, Rear=P23570R15 on Torque- Thrust wheels Custom headrests installed on original seatbacks After reading about this vehicle, you can see that I have made many changes. I am very particular and have done all wiring in a professional manner, paying special attention to protecting these components from heat and abrasion. I have witnessed some wiring nightmares, and I try to eliminate any potential problems. This car can be driven anywhere. I have all receipts and documents on aftermarket components along with wiring schematics and fuse locations. Thanks for looking. You can contact me at 931-644-3911 for additional info and to come see the vehicle. No calls after 9 pm CST please. Car located in Cookeville, TN 38506
