Vehicle Detail
Hello everyone and thanks for viewing my auction. The truck you are viewing is very special. It is a factory bright red 1987 short bed, which is the best of the best out of all of these trucks of this body style. See, 1987 was the first year for the throttle body injection which means that this baby isnt carbureted. This is a very reliable truck that starts every morning without tapping the gas pedal :) This truck's engine had a complete rebuild at about 120k miles. There was no corners cut during the engine rebuild either. This truck runs great, doesnt miss at all, and has plenty of power. It also has a very good repaint that is about 5 or 6 years old. The A/C blows cold, the cruise control works great, it shifts perfectly, and drives perfectly straight. The best part of all is that it has always been kept inside since new. There is no rust to be found on the entire truck. It is probably the most solid truck I have ever seen in this body style. I will now try to describe every aspect of the truck from front to back, top to bottom. Exterior: The exterior is in superb condition for its age. There are no dents or major issues at all. The paint is just amazing and shines like new. The hood is excellent with no rust issues. It closes easily with no alignment issues. The grille is just superb and looks amazing. The headlights work as they should. The bumper is nice and straight with good chrome. The feners are in very good condition with only a minor blemish on the passenger's side tip near where the hood meets the fender. I took a picture of it. The glare makes it look worse than it is. It is only a scuff on the tip of the fender. The drivers side fender is basically perfect. Both doors are in phenomenal condition with no rust what so ever....not even at the very bottom. The door jambs are superb with only minor paint missing at the entry area at the bottom (no rust there either). The cab is basically flawless. The roof looks new and has no missing paint or clear coat peel. One thing I should mention is around the front windshield, there is a black pin stripe. When I bought the truck, the windshield was cracked. I ordered a new one with the built in antenna as it came from the factory, but the molding around the windshield wasnt the same size. It was a bit smaller. This made it look bad because there was now a paint line where it was previously painted. I gently filed down the paint line and put a black stripe around the windshield 1/8" wide to cover up the paint line, so the problem wouldnt be noticeable. The paint is too pretty and nice to repaint it due to a tiny paint line around the windshield. The bed is in excellent condition. Both bed sides are in excellent condition and look great. It doesnt even have any door dings down the bedside. There is one very tiny spot about the size of a nickel behind the passengers side wheel on the very bottom that is a rust scab. This in the only spot on the entire truck. No rust underneath or anywhere else. There are no signs of bondo/filler and the truck has a near flawless body. Inside the bed is all original paint. At some point in the trucks life, something dinged the inside bed near the back glass. It put an indention in it but wasnt deep enough to touch the cab. I took good pictures of this. The tail gate is excellent and the rear bumper is excellent with good chrome. Interior: The interior has been very well kept and is mostly all original. The door panels are in superb condition for their age and havent even started to get "crusty" like most of them do at the top. The door panel pocket is a bit stretched like all of them are. An extra screw was placed in the center so they dont sag or get in the way of your leg while youre driving. The intrument panel is in excellent condition and all the gauges work as they should although the gas gauge is a little "bouncy". The dash pad is cracked in a few places. There is a carpet molded cover that is fastened in place to cover up the cracks. It looks fine but would need a new dash pad if you didnt like the carpet cover. The lower dash is red and is original paint. It is in excellent condition. The original carpet is in superb condition as well. The headliner is in great original shape and the interior lights work as they should. All the buttons work as they should and the a/c blows ice cold with no issues. The bench seat is in excellent condition but was recovered about 6 years ago. The rear sliding glass is original with the original etching still in it from the factory so you know its original. This truck came optioned with two gas tanks. The gas tank on the left works perfectly, but when you switch it to the right side, it bogs down and loses power. It still runs and is usable, but it definitely needs to be addressed if you are going to be using the right tank a lot. The truck has a Sony aftermarket radio/cd player. It works fine and sounds good. It is a clean installation. I do not have the original radio. Engine Bay: Under the hood lies a very clean engine bay. There is no signs of rust that I have found and it is very clean. The original jack is still in place, the original radiator is still in place with no leaks, and the engine looks very clean. The original 305 looks great, the original breather looks amazing, and the inner fenders look excellent. Its so nice to see one of these trucks that hasnt been modified and chromed out. I like a truck that hasnt been butchered or heavily modified and this one is just so nice and original. A truck this nice is a very rare find these days. Underneath: Underneath, this truck really shows its history. You can really tell that it has been kept inside most of its life. Notice the bottom of the bed. It still looks like new underneath. There has been some under coating done to stop surface rust from spreading. You'll find this on some of the suspension and the rearend. The floors are excellent, the rockers are superb, the suspension is great, and the drivetrain looks amazing. This truck is one of the best. Wheels and Tires: The wheels are the original factory wheels that are still in wonderful condition for their age. They are nice and the silver paint still looks good on the inside of them. The Cooper Cobra tires are in good shape and will not need to be changed for awhile. Please take time to view all of the pictures and make your own decision about the truck. I have dealt with a lot of these trucks of this body style and I believe that this is one of the best unrestored trucks in existance. This truck has only had one repaint, so I dont consider that a restoration especially since the inside bed still carries its original paint. Just an excellent truck that has been repainted in its original color. Now that you have seen all that this truck has to offer, please bid accordingly. It is a great truck that only needs a good home. I have complete confidence in this truck and have daily driven it for awhile. I have driven it around town on a daily basis and have taken it as far as 60+ miles on a single trip with no issues at all. It looks, drives, shifts, turns, and brakes so good that I would feel confident driving it anywhere. The buyer is responsible for shipping or pickup.
