Vehicle Detail
1984 VW WESTFALIA Camper Van. This van is in overall good shape but will need a new engine as the one in it is locked up due to oil loss none of the mechanicals have been taken apart or removed as of yet. The van has some body damage in a couple spots that I have tried to get good pictures of and also a little rust on one side but nothing drastic as can be seen by the photos needs rear bumper replaced as it is bent. The interior cabinetry is in amazing condition with most all laminated surfaces being in great condition, there is slight damage inside the driver rear cabinet on the inner wall as you can see in one of the photos(looks like something got jabbed into it). The stove sink fridge and all cabinets are in great shape and all latches work and doors open and close correctly. The carpet is in overall good condition and not frayed out but could use a good cleaning. The camper top canvas looks like someone put ducktape over a hole or something at the rear edge as can be seen in photos, I have not peeled the tape off to see what if anything it is covering. The interior could use a good shampoo as I have not gotten around to cleaning it. The beds are in good shape and all move in and out of position fine, a couple of the ridge vents are missing(the tiny little vents around the top edge of the roof). Everything pictured is included with the van, all items in the cabinets will be included, it even has a fire extinguisher and also the snap in netting that goes across the back when you have the hatch open and are camping. There are tire chains, rust stop spray, the jack and many other things in the cabinets. Undercarriage is in good condition. Driver front wheel looks as if it is needing a wheel bearing or ball joint as it is leaning some. The front seats could use new padding as they are pretty flat and someone decided to paint the dash and door panels as you can see and the glove box is off at this time, I will try and get around to putting it back on or see why it is off. Overall the van is in pretty good shape but has a few things that are going to need addressed and will make a great camper once finished. This van should cost very little to put back on the road as the 1.9 engines are cheap and easily found. You are welcome to call me at 940-237-1007 for more information on the van. I can also provide more pictures of any area that you would like. I really wanted to keep it and do a subagone conversion as they are really not very hard to do and makes these run and drive out like a champion!! But circumstances are forcing me to sell my toy without even getting to play with it :( I hope whoever wins this auction gives her lots of love and attention as she will give many more years of service with proper handling. To answer a few questions I have had on the van. It has only been parked a few months. It was purchased and registered I believe in feb or march of this year, for $5500. in Colorado and then driven to here in Wichita Falls Texas and the engine blew from the owner not checking or adding oil. So yes if it had a good engine in it and had the driver front wheel bearing or ball joint taken care of this van should be ready to head down the road as the trans-axle was working well and the clutch was and still is good as I tried to pull start the van to see if the motor would turn at all or if it were completely locked down and it will lock the wheels when the clutch is released and roll immediatly when the clutch is pressed so definitely a pretty solid clutch still and definitely a locked up engine ( no oil in engine or very very little). Brakes also feel good and solid, I also know where there is a used 1.9 waterboxer engine in California that I am told was running when removed from the vw van it was in when they upgraded to a larger engine and can be bought for $250. plus shipping (If they don't sell it in the meantime). I would also change the driver tire out due to the uneven wear on the tread. I know this will make someone a great camper van with a little tlc. If anyone would like closer pics of anything or any other details please feel free to ask
