BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND WITH NO RESERVE 1956 Chevrolet Pro-Street Sedan Project Presented here for your viewing and bidding pleasure is a fine example of a pro-street style 1956 Chevrolet 210. This 2-door sedan has been a part-time work in progress for the better part of 20 years. The owner is culling his herd some and has reluctantly decided to pass this one on. BODY The body is completely free of any rust, damage, or blemishes outside of some very fine and very buffable light scratches. If you look down the side of the body it is laser-straight. The gloss black paint is shiny and free of any orange peel. There are faint gold metallic “ghost” flames on the hood and front fenders of the car. The floors, body mounts, and trunk are also rust-free, which you can see in the photos of the underside. The chrome and pot metal components on the car show some pitting and scratching as you would expect in a 56-year old car. There is no front bumper for the car. The stainless trim is in good condition with a few very minor blemishes. All glass is unbroken, free of cracks and in good condition. You will note in the photos that there are no front inner fenders included in this sale. There are some spare tail light housings and miscellaneous parts included in this sale, On a scale of 1 to 10 this body is a solid 9+, having undergone an extensive and expensive professional overhaul. There will be no disappointments here. DRIVETRAIN The engine is a small block Chevrolet which is supposedly of 350 cubic inch displacement. It has been dressed up with a set of coated headers, chrome valve covers, chrome alternator, some Billet pulleys, an Edelbrock carburetor, an HEI distributor and lots of little accents. The engine bay could use some cleaning and polishing of storage dust and surface rust. The motor starts and runs fine. The transmission is a stock TH350 with a Lokar braided stainless dipstick and chrome pan. The transmission shifts fine with no issues via a B&M megashifter. The rear axle is a narrowed 10-bolt unit which I believe originated in a Camaro. FRAME The rear frame has been replaced with an SW race car’s back-half ladder bar setup with SW coil springs. A panhard bar keeps things lined up here. The front frame has been replaced with a late 1970’s/early 1980’s Camaro/Firebird unit which sports power steering. The frame and many components underneath have been painted steel gray in PPG basecoat/clearcoat. BRAKES A 1980’s Camaro power brake unit was added to assist the stock Camaro brake system in the front and rear. WHEELS/TIRES The wheels are matching weld draglite, front and rear. The rear tires are new 29 x 19.5 Mickey Thompson Sportsmans. The tires do not rub. INTERIOR The interior has not yet been completed. The dash has been partially put together and some partial wiring has been completed. The car starts and shuts off from the key switch but gauges and lighting have not been completed. Carpeting has been installed on the front floor and a driver’s seat has been installed. A console of sorts has been started but never finished. The interior window bezels are there but there is no passenger or rear seats included in this sale. Front door handles and window cranks are in place and operational. Steering is accomplished via a Pontiac Trans-Am tilt column. There is a culled-together stereo system in the car with a sub box, an amp, and head unit. The fuel pipe piping from tank to tail light needs to be finished. The 12-circuit painless fuse box is mounted and some wiring has been performed. The rest of the dash and chassis wiring is all there and ready to be terminated. SUMMARY All-in-all this is a fairly complete and almost finished project which needs some interior work and wiring to be road legal. It represents many hundreds of hours of work, of which the hard work is completed. A new owner with the enthusiasm to finish the last leg of the race is all that is needed.
