Vehicle Detail
Contemporary Classic Cobra 427 SC. Original cast-iron cross-bolted C9AE Ford 427FE side-oiler with the authentic 4-speed top-loader transmission (beefed up and bullet-proof). Many pics available on my Flickr account. http://www.flickr.com/photos/67509480@N04/sets/72157630781174088/ I also have multiple videos to help you see and hear my Cobra: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_o_GgLc9toE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l-_nWBY5CVc&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hJFOMcYVUBM&feature=plcp http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2T8FnW0GP0&feature=youtu.be Do your homework. Read up on Contemporary and its unrivaled authenticity to the original. They were even nominated #1 replica builder by Road&Track. Round tube chassis that indeed mimics the Shelby original (unlike many donor frame builds and conventional frame designs). The drivetrain on this beast also closely follows the original 427SC. Most replicas out there feel like you are driving a Mustang or a VW, simply because that's the frame, suspension, and drivetrain they utilize. Entire drivetrain (including motor, tranny, clutch, etc.) was recently rebuilt approx 5k ago. Motor was built by the most well known FE builder out there, Carroll Carter with CC Motorsports in Manassas, VA. It was bored 0.015" over. The engine was stroked and makes over 550 horses. During the build, it was outfitted with: a 428 crank, Crower roller cam (Duration 280/288, Lift .581/.583), Venolia Pistons, Harland Sharp aluminum roller rockers, high volume oil pump, etc. Has C3AE-6090D heads, aluminum Cobra Le Mans valve covers, big 830cfm Holly carburetor with annular boosters, high-torque starter (she fires right up), Tilton hydraulics, Hays aluminum flywheel, Centerforce dual friction clutch, MSD ignition system (6200 module), MSD Rev. limit indicator light, huge aluminum radiator. True 3 piece polished aluminum Compomotive wheels wrapped with new rubber all the way around. Willwood front calipers with 12" rotors. Fully adjustable hydraulic front/rear disc brakes. Jaguar XKE independent suspension and rear end with Koni shocks. This is a high dollar setup, was rebuilt prior to install, and looks and feels excellent. Front suspension is a torsion bar setup with Koni shocks. Bushings are looking great under the car and all feels tight going down the road. Original Smith gauges, gas cap, Engllish connolly leather seats, tail lights, English wool carpets, side pipes, location for dash gauges and switches, steering wheel, windshield, lights, etc. Air horns, driving lights (high beam switch at left foot), wipers, manual switch radiator fan, heater, all work The color is beautiful. GM "Flame Red", GM Code 8748, 1986 chevy, Acrylic Lacquer. It gets a lot of compliments. This serpent drives and handles incredibly well. It has logged 17,xxx Miles (frame and body) This Cobra is tougher than the original, while keeping its true Shelby nostalgia. Whoever buys this beauty will have the baddest car on the block and one of the most historic cars at any car show. this cobra, because of its authenticity will only increase in value. It is titled and registered as a '66 Shelby, even has a Cobra VIN (CSX##########) Paint is not show quality, looks great though. A non-breathable cover caused some tiny "goose bumps" in clear coat in some areas. As you can see, it still looks great in pictures and also in person. Smith tachometer works as it should, however when you really get on it the tach doesn't pull enough amperage to give accurate reading. The reason for this is because with this ignition system it needs a MSD adapter (part #8920). It costs $50, just haven't got around to doing that. Under all normal and moderate driving conditions, you will have accurate tach readings. Very very few Cobras boast an authentic 427 Side Oiler. Most of the 427's were center oiler or top oilers. This is the real deal. Hard to find them these days as these motors were built for the Nascar circuit. This one even has a racing pan (11qt., no baffles, rear right oil pick-up to ensure constant oil pressure while circling track) If you require pictures of something I do not have, ask me and I will do my best to help you. I have boxes of spare and random parts that I would be willing to give buyer if you can pick up within 45 days of auction end. I will POSSIBLY consider trades for 4 door sport cars (M5 or CTS-V) or Porsche turbos, Vipers, Ferraris, Lotus, etc. Trade value is $45-50k. reserve price is lower, as I would rather have cash sale so I can have fun shopping. This car is a great investment, and considering what I'm willing to let it go for, you will most likely make money after years of enjoyable ownership. For me, it is time to sell this Cobra. My wife won't even get near it (doesn't like the rumble and is too scared to burn her legs on exhaust, haha) Please Do not bid if you aren't ready to buy. Be sure your finances are in order. Buyer will be responsible for shipping vehicle or picking it up. $500 deposit required within 24 hours of auction close, and full payment must be received within 7 days of auction close. Wire transfer is preferred. Bank check or cashier's check is permitted, however I will not ship vehicle until check has cleared.
