Vehicle Detail
UP FOR NO RESERVE AUCTION is a 1967 Honda CB77 Superhawk 305cc. This motorcycle was in my wife's grandparent's shed for the last 30 years (it was last registered in 1983). Recently her grandfather passed away and now her grandmother is selling off some of his possessions. So I am helping her sell this bike on Ebay. I do not own the bike, but it does have a clear title in his name that she can legally sign over at the time of sale. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. IT WILL SELL TO THE HIGHEST BIDDER.OR YOU CAN BUY IT NOW FOR $3,000 This bike could easily be brought to show winning level, but it is already a neat weekend driver. The following is what I have personally done to the bike in the last month;-Installed Brand New Battery-New Spark Plugs-New Caps-New Wires-New Petcock-New Fuel line splitter and in-line fuel filters (I don't trust those petcock screens to filter gas properly)-Cleaned, Filed, and adjusted the points-Changed the oil-Rinsed the gas tank out with gas several times-Removed Carburetors and dipped them in diesel fuel overnight. (it's an old trick to dissolve dirt and grime without harming the carb or the seals)-Thoroughly cleaned the Carburetors and jets with air and carb cleaner.-Removed the tank, fenders, side cover, and chain guard. I Sandblasted the rust spots. Wet sanded the paint and had them painted by a friend that does it professionally. The paint color is Seafoam Blue and is the best part of this bike in my opinion. Everyone who sees it comments on how much they like the color. Pictures don't do it justice.-Removed and painted the engine covers metallic silver. They had already been painted and were flaking.-Cleaned it a little bit. (still could use a lot more cleaning) What was done to the bike 30 years ago; (not by me)-I do not think the luggage rack and saddlebags are stock for this bike. They may have been an option or may have been for the Honda dream. Either way, they are rare and would probably clean up nicely. The right bag had a big sticker on it that I peeled off, but I did not remove the sticker on the left bag. 2 holes were drilled in the rear fender to get the luggage rack to mount.-The turn signal kit that is installed on this bike is also very rare. I believe that this was a kit that was offered as an option from the dealer. The right front lens is missing though. The next owner may have to find one on Ebay or a junk yard or something.-There was a homemade tin mudflap on the back of the front fender that was mounted with pop rivets. I removed that because it was ugly. If you get real close to the front fender you can see the small holes in it, but from 5 feet away you can't tell.-Some tape around the tach cable that I just left on there. PROS;-Starts and runs easily with kick start or electric starter. -Doesn't leak any oil-Low miles-Rides nice, shifts smooth-Everything is there, not missing any major components-Turn signals work-Headlight and Brake lights work-Tires still have some tread and aren't dry rotted-Comes with owners manual and Chilton's manual-Clean Title (known) mechanical PROBLEMS;-The tach and odometer don't work. I don't know if it is just the cables, but when driving down the road, they don't get up above 10. They just vibrate and bounce around a little bit. It either needs new cables (most likely) or a new gauge.-Carb (round) slides stick open on occasion. I don't know if it is the ethanol in the new gas or maybe some residue that I didn't get out of the tank, but every once in awhile a carb slide will stick open and the engine will stay revving for several seconds. I can pull the carb slide out of the top of the carb and clean some gunk off of it and it will be fine for hours, but the problem eventually comes back. I did some research and this is not the only cb77 that seems to have this problem. If I owned this bike, I would probably just replace these stock keihin carbs with aftermarket bolt on carbs.-Also, the float needle gasket must be leaking a little bit in the right carb, because if the petcock is left on, it leaks gas very slowly out of the overflow. (maybe a drop an hour) (known) cosmetic PROBLEMS;-small tear in the seat-some rust spots on the frame and front forks (basically everything painted white)-some pitting in the chrome-missing front right turn signal lens-gauge glass cover has a crack in it-still dirty in several places-center stand is pretty rusty-paint looks really nice, but bondo was not used. So there are some small dings and dents still visible on the front fender and right side cover. (tank looks perfect) PICTURES AND VIDEOS TELL THE STORY PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS I HAVE A 100% FEEDBACK RATING BECAUSE I TRY TO DESCRIBE EVERY SMALL DEFECT AND DETAIL DOWN PAYMENT IS REQUIRED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF THE END OF THE AUCTION You may have to turn your script off (unblock this page) to view the pictures or videos. I do not own a high resolution camera, but these videos may help.
