1978 Honda CR

I am in the process of selling off some of my vintage bikes and will be listing a few others soon. This is a 1978 CR250 Elsinore I picked up a while back with the intent of restoring. I have already restored one 78 Cr250 so I decided to sell this one.As you can see from the pictures its not perfect cosmetically but it runs very well. A few reasons I purchased this particular bike was the previous owner just had a fresh top end done (new piston/rings/wrist pin,etc) and the frame was straight. The motor has very good compression, starts in one or two kicks ,runs, shifts as it should and its fast! When looking for a bike to restore a solid motor and good frame are the most important things to me. As far as the cosmetics go its going to need work. The tank is in decent shape but does have a few dings (see pic). Pipe and silencer are original and in pretty nice shape considering the age of the bike (there is one dent in the pipe right by the tank- see pic)Front and rear fenders are not originals but they match the color of the bike very well . Side plates are original and not to bad and the front plate is original as well. If you are looking at this bike to race you would definitely want to replace fork seals/oil and probably put a new front tire on it as well. I am not sure if the front brake cable on this bike is correct but it seems to work fine. All in all a very decent original core bike to start with. If you have looked for the "1978" model Red rocket you already know they are tough to find. This is the first year Honda went with the laid down shock setup. The bike can be trail ridden as is.
