OverviewUp for auction is a pristine 1983 Toyota 4x4 pickup. Truck is all original, not restored. It only has 6,375 original miles!It was donated new in 1983 by a Toyota dealership to the Salina County Mounted Patrol in Kansas. They obviously seldom usedit, and was always stored in thier building. This truck was purchased a month ago with 5,862 miles, all original downto the tires! It came with a camper shell that was removed, but can be included in the sale. Has factory power steering,power brakes, and 5 speed transmission. No a/c, but can be retro-fitted to have a/c. Mecum Auctions recently sold a restored truck similar to this with an a/c retrofit system for $19,500 plus fees, and it had around10 times more miles on the odometer. This truck is not restored. It is all original! It looks and drives as close to showroom new as you're going to get out of a 1983 vehicle these days. Center console is missing, but can be purchased from Toyota for about $70.00. Usually, we would tell you about all the hard work and effort that went into making this vehicle as nice as it is, but this is unlike anything we've ever seen. It hasn't been touched. It's like a time capsule! You really do get a feel for how these things were right off the showroom floor, being behind the wheel. It drives amazing, but it feels wrong to drive such a low-mile classic. I felt bad driving it 10 feet around the parking lot for the video! No way I was going to take it on atest drive for the video. The pictures and video were taken about a mile away from where the truck is being stored. It isnot being driven at all right now. Mileage on the odometer right now is 6,375.X. It was precisely 6,374.4 in the picturesand video. There is a service sticker inside the driver's door that states the truck was serviced on 2-20-95 with 2,108 miles. It states next service due 5-20-95 at 5,108 miles! That means this truck has been driven a little over 4,000 miles in the last17 years! Put another way, that's an average of only 251 miles driven per year... for 17 years! The roof has a hole in it from where an antenna used to be. Being a former County Mounty truck, it had to have comm. antennasinstalled. The resulting damage would be minor to fix, but we hesitate on that, since it would take away from the originalityof the truck. Bed has some scratches in it, and there are a couple light scratches on the bedsides. The marks you see on the lower inner door are rubber shoe scuffs (oops) that will be easily taken off with a damp sponge. Any questions, feel free to ask.
