Vehicle Detail
Original 1949 Jeepster -- NOT restored, but no dings, no rust. The interior is clean. The previous owner replaced the head gasket on the original 134 c. i. flathead engine and I replaced the six-volt battery, all belts, hoses, and radiator and did an oil change -- all less than six months ago. The top frame and original side curtain frames are fine, but the top needs new fabric and both it and the side curtains need new plastic for the windows. The brake shoes all are at about 75%, but the I can't open the master cylinder so I don't know if the lines are bad or the master cylinder might be, but in either case the brakes DO NOT work. I have priced a master cylinder online at $69. The three-speed transmission with overdrive and clutch are strong, but the synchro appears to be bad. Sometimes it will go into gear just fine, other times it grinds. I spoke with a Jeepster guy in Florida who says he will do a complete transmission rebuild for $295 plus shipping. I have driven the Jeepster around my property (without the brakes) and the steering seems fine. It accelerates well, does not smoke (except when first started for about 30 seconds if it's been sitting for several weeks) and doesn't make any strange sounds. I was going to do a full restoration on it, but too many projects are ahead of it in line. The only damage I have seen is a hole about 2 inches in diameter on the side of the driver seat (shown in photos), a piece chipped off the right side rear seat step (shown in photos), and the hubcap on the spare tire has a crack in it. The other four original hubcaps are all fine. I have a new-in-box turn switch set-up for it since this model originally came without them and an extra radiator that I will throw in at no additional charge as long as you pay the shipping for them. You won't find another original Jeepster this clean, this cheap! The Jeepster comes with an open Oklahoma title and all properly signed transfer papers to register it in Texas. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding. I require a $500 nonrefundable deposit via PayPal within 24 hours of the auction end and payment in full within seven days. If you want to pick the car up, you MUST pay in cash. If you are having the car shipped and pay by cashier's check, neither the Jeep nor the title will leave my property until payment has cleared the bank. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. The Jeepster is also for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction early. On Sep-03-12 at 08:52:52 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to add that I also have complete shop/service and parts manuals for the Jeepster. I will include them at no additional cost as long as you pay for shipping them.
