*************update #2************** If the photos below do not load, please go here: http://s1061.photobucket.com/albums/t466/apfrancis/MGB-GT%20for%20sale/ Sweet running and driving MGB with very little rust, overdrive, but a host of issues. Miles are unknown. I have owned this car for three years and it has been very reliable. Starts easily cold or warm and pulls well. Later engine with weber carb. I use it exclusively for long freeway journeys, where it can run at 75 mph in overdrive all day. Overdrive equals about 22mph/1000rpm so 75 hits at about 3400rpm. Shifts cleanly and well. No syncro issues. I would not hesitate to drive it to Portland tonight. The interior is in very good condition with recent carpet and seats newly recovered on new foam. The sills and floors are very solid. Body has not rusted through anywhere. Some rust bubbles on the rear fender lips, and some rust in the spare wheel well, but does not look cancerous (see pictures). Recent work done includes: Brand new Pirelli P4 tires in 185/70r14. Less than 1000 miles. New rear springs New rear brake cylinders & shoes & hose Rear drums turned Rebuilt steering rack with new boots New driveshaft u-joints Recovered seats New clutch master and slave cylinders and hose New galvanized fuel tank Recent fuel pump (not sure of when) *******************update******************* I found my notes from a tuneup I did in May of 2010. The compression numbers are as follows: 1: 145 2: 142 3: 140 4: 145 At the time I also rejetted the Weber DGV carb to help eliminate a stumble I was experiencing in the transition from closed to open throttle. The jet numbers are: Primary: 150 Secondary: 155 This change resulted in a noticeable improvement in pickup, plus it eliminated the stumble. Things in need of repair/attention: Poor aftermarket repaint in original color is flaking off in several places The nose, bonnet, grill and bumper of the car have parking damage (see pictures) Aftermarket sunroof in rough shape. Does not leak, but has been sealed shut, and interior hardware is rusty. I have not attempted to open it. There is evidence that the right front fender was replaced at some point in the past Overdrive engages in all gears plus reverse (should only engage in third and top) Speedometer is not calibrated for later engine. Fix requires a new speedometer calibrated for 1000 turns per mile instead of 1280. Front suspension bushings are cracked and worn. Not noticeable at speed or on smooth roads, but does clunk a little over big bumps and cobbles. Engine burns about a quart of oil per 500 miles. There is a little smoke on startup, none when it is warm. Rear muffler has a hole. There is a kink in the left sill at the jack point (see pictures) Driver's mirror was ripped off by vandals but I have a replacement Aerial was ripped off by vandals Don't let the laundry list of needs scare you. She is a very sweet little 'B that could easily be a daily driver, a rolling restoration, or with the lack of rust, the basis for a full resto. The worst thing is the sunroof, but some GT's had the fabric Webasto sunroof as a dealer-installed option. If an owner could find one, he or she could return this B to period correct with little effort. Please don't hesitate to ask questions. I will tell you everything I know! Shipping: I doubt the final purchase price will warrant shipping, but if buyer wants to ship, they must arrange everything. I will aid as best I can. Payment: I will accept Paypal or cash only. $500 is due within 48 hours of auction close, with the balance due within 1 week.
