NEW INFORMATION AS OF 9/5/2012I found the owner's manual, or a color xerox of it, and I was able to see what the original color was.By the driver door, there is the color identity plate it reads:MADE IN WESTERN GERMANY KARMANN KAROSSERIE NR 4249084KUNSTHARZLACKL99K ( Which I looked up , and it was an OPTIONAL COLOR Copper Metallic, originally. I think it would look stunning in Copper Metallic, and it is a contemporary color!) I know it has fuel injection, but for the life of me, I can't find the engine number.I have added additional pics of the engine compartment as it is now. If anyone would please tell me exactly where to find it, I will be happy to do it!!! I will include the booklet, there is a part I found for the liscene light, and a key fob, blank Porsche key and Italian key I bought on EBay when I thought I would keep and restore myself. Also, forgot to mention new battery as of August, 2012.PICs are added. A shout out to all those who asked questions, I was able to better describe this car to you who really are serious collectors!THANK YOU!!!! It is interesting, just need a little guidance! Please let me know where to find the engine number. HAPPY BIDDING!!!!(currently 65 Watch list people) HISTORY:I inherited this car when my brother passed unexpectedly 6 plus years ago.It has been hard for me to let this go, but I have been out of work for the past three years, andcan't afford to fix this up ( or have someone else do it), and it really need to be restored to it's former glory.I have no records of services, but know he did have it maintained by Precision Motors in Covina, Ca.I know he was not the original owner. He bought it about 12 years ago. The GOOD:|The car runs, good Yokohama tires, new Alpine stereo with MP3 and speakers, new fuel pump. The car is straight body, no accidents I know of, CLEAR and CLEAN title, registered in California until July, 2013.Registration is only 80.00 a year, no smog required. 37 years old and still on the road!Original blue and yellow liscence plate...California car, but still has some spots of superficial rust, as it has not been garaged.Let's face it , these cars have PERSONALITY! Fun to drive in the summer with the top off! They aren't making these anymore, highly collectible!I have had over 1,200 views in the last 10 days. The BAD:Common things with these cars....someone cut speaker holes in the side panels, needs to be replaced, dash cracked, windshield cracked, side passenger door needs to be adjusted ( only opens from the inside) , needs new radio antenna, has original seats, needs to be upholstered, but the center part is in good shape between the seats,The engine compartment cable needs to be replaced. THE UGLY: Rust spots have crept in the last year, under the windshield on passenger side ( see pic) and on trunk lid (see pic) and inside of trunk rust is starting to form, but not through.Various dings and dents and scratches, it will need to be painted.(The original color was COPPER METALLIC L-99K which was an optional upgrade. I think this is good, since it will have to be repainted, copper metallic will look stunning.} HOPES: Someone out there will want to restore it to it's original glory, that knows all about these cars...and has a passion for them.I am asking 2,800. to start. Please let me know if there are any questions I can legitimately answer.Available for test drive, just call 24 hours in advance, so I we will be here.
