57 mg magnette 4dsd which was sold here in the States for a few years by MG. The origninal car was 4 cylinder and 4 speed transmission, quite luxurious by 5 british car standards, The dashboard and window trim is real hardwood, This is a unit body construction which had no rot and has been reinforced to accommodate the 5.0 ford V8, The firewall has been moved back several inches and the transmission tunnel enlarged to accommodate the T-5 Transmission. The car also has a n 8.8 ford posi 3:73 rear bolted to the original rear leaf springs. The original front suspension has been retained and modified to accept Granada disc brake rotors with GM calipers. $2000 in machine work was spent there. The car utilizes ford 5x4 1/2 lug pattern. Since the firewall has moved back the legroom for the driver as been reduced somewhat and for someone over about 5'8" the seat would need to be repositioned up or rearward.At 5"10 its cramped but have over 3" headroom, Atpresent the passengers seat is fine and rear seat is adequate for 2 adults. The body has been midly customized with frenched headlights, relocated parking lights, shaved door handles, (fronts are keyless remote, rears are accessed easily from the front with the doors or windows opened) Trunk lid has been decked and is also remote control. The over riders were also removed from the bumpers. The bumpers and window trim could use new chrome. It is pitted but solid with one small area which has peeled on the front bumper. The grill shell, cap and trim is re-plated at a cost of over $800 alson. In the event of a lock ou or dead battery provisions have been made to get into the car manually. The underbody is neat and clean but not show quality. The par is painted 196 mustang silver which had a pearlish tint in its orignial form. It also has small amount of house of color rainbow flake which can only be seen in bright sunlight. Several coats of dupont clear coat on top. The paint is about 4 years old but this car has been garaged since it was built. The engine is a 1984 mustang 5.0 with new crank, bearings and rings. It has the original 4 barrel on an edlebrock aluminum intake, long tube hearders with turbo mufflers and tail pipes out the rear. New zoom clutch and pressure plate along with a HEI sytle distributor, chrome valve covers, air cleaner, alternator and accessories. The rear and transkmission were in good working order so the only thing was an inspection and fresh oil. Since the only thing still MG is the body and suspension everything else is new or rebuilt. Most of the MG front bushings were replaced with poly bushings where available. The car has a brand new EZ wire harness and ford electrical components with the exception of the stock guages and switches which I chose to retain for the sake of character. As usual, the British gauges only give you n questimate of the conditions but everything is working fine. The car uses a GM steeringt column so you have the Hazzard, directionals, horn and lock there. Also a period AM/FM cassette with 4 speakers. Cooling is handled by a Falcon V8 core radiator and thermostatic electric fan, The red seats came out of a parts car and are not new but not bad except for whats shown, a small gouge in the passengers front seatback about 3/4", The rest of the interior including the headliner is new silver vinyl. The rug is also silver but has a lot of seams and some stains in the drivers foot well. I have every receipt and part number for everything on the car including a copy of the title for the drive train. I am selling this car ecause I have to many projets . Nothing is perfect so hear are the flaws although minor flaws none the less. The finished on the car is excellent except for 3 pea sized dents behind the pas cap on the rear quarter. There is some paint chipping on the leading edge of the hood and left front fender. There are a few pin head size rust bubbles on the rear quarter 1/s behind the wheel there is a blemish/bubble where on door handle was removed about 1/4 inch.
