Vehicle Detail

Same owner for the last 33 years. 1966 MG Mk1 with period correct modifications. New paint 8/2011, engine and transmission rebuild 8/2011 with only 1100 miles since rebuilds. First of all this car has ZER0 RUST! New floors, rockers, outer sills and castle sections. New lower front fenders and lower rear quarters. Trunk floor had NO rust and is original. Doors were reinforced at the "crack of doom" location with welded in reinforcement panels. All panels were sprayed with zinc chromate 2 part epoxy and rock guard before welding and Waxoyled inside after the body paint was finished. Original aluminum hood with NO bondo or fillers. Base/Clear urethane OEW paint. Car was painted in the engine bay, trunk, and interior before body was painted. NOS stainless body waist trim and rechromed front bumper ( sans overriders) from Knox Custom Chrome. Windshield frame was polished inside and out before new rubber and tinted glass were installed. New windshield seal rubber, frame to cowl rubber, and post seals. New vent window rubber and door glass scrapper rubber. Original front grille in excellent condition. New trunk emblems and side body Union Jack badges. Union Jacks are on with UGLOO and are removable without any trace. New door handles from Moss with new rubber under them. ALL RUBBER PARTS on this car were replaced with new with the exception of the water drain bulb on the vent which is NLA. The one on it is in good condition. Side windows are in excellent condition as are the vent windows. The top frame is a Stowaway type that removes completely from the car and stowed in the trunk. The top itself is an Everlast top from the UK and is much nicer than the Amco and other tops with exception to the canvas tops. The underside of the body was cleaned to metal in search of rust and was epoxy primered and coated with super grade 3M undercoating. I do not have a lift so I don't have pictures of the underside of the car. If the sale hindges on them I will take some and add them to my photos. The front suspension was rebuilt with new kingpins, bushes and spring trays. Polyurethane replaced all the rubber in front and rear suspensions. Rebuilt front shocks and Koni adjustable shocks on the rear. Rear springs are original that were dissasembled, sand blasted, repainted and reassembled with new clamps. The car rides and sits as it should. The rear housing is a late model wire wheel salisbury rear that was centered to the body by removing the mounts and rewelding. This gives excellent clearance for the 15" Minator UK made alloy wheels with Pirelli 195/65/15 tires, NO rubbing whatsoever even in hard cornering. New wheel cylinders rear and rebuilt and zinc plated calipers on the front with all new brake line kits and new rubber hoses. The brake master cylinder has been upgraded to new DUAL master from the original single line for better braking and safety. The system retains it's original pressure brake switch and has a redundant brake light switch in the pedal box cover that comes on at the slightest touch of the brake pedal. Both brake system and clutch system have silicone fluid from when parts were brand new. New clutch master, slave cylinder and hoses. New gas tank and sending unit as well as a new electroinc SU fuel pump. The gas filler tube was zinc plated and the gas cap is an aftermarket LOCKING cap with sliding key cover. I think it is an Amco but not sure. I've never seen another one like it. It has 2 keys with it and is vented. New vinyl covered wiring harness and new turn signal colum switch. The car has a single type 26 battery. Headlights are LUCAS European haligen 100/65 and may not be legal in your particular state. If need be I will replace these before purchase. Front turn signal assemblies are new as are the rear tailights. Both front and rear are european spec with amber/red rear and amber/clear front. No outside mirrors but a clip on mirror on the vent window will make it leagal in most states. The interior is a moss kit and the seats are vinyl faced instead of the original leather. I prefered the vinyl to leather for comfort and ease of maintenance but if my reserve is met I will pay for new leather covers for the new owner. I have an extra set of seat frames and will give them to you so you can keep or sell the vinyl seats. The dash was sand blasted front and rear and painted with the proper wrinkle finish. It is a 1967 dash as I prefered the pull light switch to the toggle type. It has a cigar lighter in the dash as well as an aftermarket lighter/ash tray mounted on the rear trans tunnel for GPS or cell charger. The door hardware is chromed metal instead of the original plastic, these are rare and last forever. The steering wheel is an original wheel that I wrapped in a nice moss leather cover.Early gear shift lever was built up and milled to the late trans and has one off leather boot. 18V engine has Lotus flat top HC pistons,(block was decked 250 thou. to meet pistons), Crane 285 cam, Isky tube rods, balanced and blueprinted crank, racing oil pump, etc. Alloy flywheel, roller bearing throwout bearing and high tourque starter. Alloy head w/ ARP nuts, pertronix ign. Alloy valve cover. Weber 45 DCOE 9 w/ Warneford intake and Warneford filter. Ball valve water valve and opposite side water cutoff combined with insulated interior panels keeps the interior cool. Falcon stainless steel exhaust system. Roll bar made by NASCAR shop for extra safety and I'm sure after such a long description I have forgotten to list many other things. Please ask questions before bidding. Thanks for looking.
