Vehicle Detail

1968 Rambler American 2 door sedan with 19,000 actual miles. The elderly lady who originally owned the car drove it until sometime in the late 1980's. She gave it to a friend of mine whose daughter cut her grass. At that time it had around 17,000 miles on it. They drove it a little for a few years, then he decided to pull the trim off and prep the car for paint. At that point he put the car in the basement of his garage and it sat until I acquired it about 5 years ago. I hauled it home and put it away and it sat until recently. The fuel pump is not working, so I temporarily wired an electric fuel pump and ran a hose to a gas can, cleaned the points, and installed a coil. The 6 cylinder started immediately with no smoke or noise. I let it warm to operating temperature and took it for a short drive. The car runs great and the automatic transmission shifts good but the brakes are grabbing. The body on the car is very nice. The drivers front fender had some light damage that needs finished out, but I have another fender from a California car to go with it if desired. I have done body/paint work for over 20 years and this car could probably be ready for paint in 4 or 5 days. The underside of the car is very good with the exception of one small hole in the drivers floor (golf ball size). The interior will clean up nicely with the exception of the cloth inserts on the front seat (they are dry rotted). Th efuel system and brakes will definitely need gone through. Some original documentation is included. The car was originally a radio delete car. I still have the delete plate but I also have an original radio to go with the car (it has a cassette player in it now). The trim is all there. The bumpers will need rechromed. I have come to the realization that I am not going to get to all of my project cars, so I am selling some off so someone else can enjoy them. Good luck.
