1990 Volvo 240 DL Current mileage at time of listing: 205,339mi Please only serious bidders; bid to buy. I am the second owner of this car (technically the third; it was titled to my Dad but was bought for me as my first car). It was bought on 3/16/1999 from Jones Toyota Volvo in Little Rock, AR. The mileage at the time of sale was 92,079mi. The vehicle has a clear title in my name and has never been involved in an accident or damage due to flood. The original owners bought the car from the same dealership; the car has resided in the Little Rock area all its life. So there’s no rust. All owners are non-smokers. I’ve had the car for over 13 years and take pride in its upkeep. I strive to change the oil every 3,000mi or 4 months, whichever comes first and have tried to keep a log of the oil changes. I take the car in at least once a year to my local mechanic (that exclusively works on Volvos and Saabs) for a checkup. I mostly use the car to drive to work. The A/C works but has either a Freon leak or oil in the compressor, so I mostly drive it in the cooler temperatures (below 90 degrees or so) with the windows down or the heater going (the heater & heated seats work strong). Mechanically the car runs and drives great, the brakes are firm and provide plenty of bite and feedback, no oil/trans leaks. All of the electronics function properly (power locks, windows, cd player, etc.). All of the original accessories are with the car (even the tool kit); it also has the original plastic all-weather floor mats and the map pockets on the front doors are in excellent condition. I have all sets of keys; two master keys and one valet key. You may notice it has the older style stainless steel wheel caps/rings; the original plastic hubcaps became warped and eventually took flight during trips on the interstate so I replaced them with the tighter fitting metal caps/rings and haven’t had a problem since. The tires are about 4 years old, but still have plenty of tread on them (around 25,000mi of use). I’ll do my best to describe the current condition of the car below. Bear in mind the car comes without warranty, but I’ve done my best to ensure the proper maintenance/service/inspection of the car before selling it. I have a box of extra parts that goes with the car (see picture). Most notable are an extra grill, extra instrument cluster, 2 air filters, the original headlight assemblies (lenses are fogged, seals leak in hard rain), an extra original tool kit, lots of bulbs and bulb housings/connectors for rear lights, and other various small parts (extra rear ashtray, door clips, etc.). Recent Major Maintenance (last 5 years):5/8/2007 - Brake Pads replaced (all 4 wheels) Brake Master Cylinder replaced 3/22/2008 - New exhaust system and muffler Tune Up Odometer replaced (bad electric motor, broken teeth on plastic gear) 179,279mi on new odometer 8/22/2008 - Brake Master Cylinder replaced (previous one was not maintaining pressure) 4/13/2009 - Coolant drained/replaced New coolant temp sensor (old tem sensor was showing false readings) 6/26/2012 - Timing belt, tensioner, and drive belts replaced Seals on cam, crank, and intershaft Brake junction block replaced (sensor was leaking causing false warning light) General checkup Cosmetic things I’ve recently replaced: - New headlight assemblies - Front turn signal lenses - New spare tire well cover from IPD Things that will need attention soon: - Shocks/struts will need replacement soon (next year or so) - Due for a tune-up/30,000mi service soon Known issues: - A/C will only work a few days after being recharged with Freon, either there’s a leak or there’s oil in the compressor. (I mostly drive it with the windows down in the summer.) The heater and heated seats work great. - The air recirculation vent vacuum lever is broken; it’s always in the recirculating position. (Costly to repair due to labor, the whole dash has to come out.) Cosmetic damage: - The paint is fading on the hood, roof, and trunk (clear coat is gone). - The driver’s side front fender is scuffed/dented up from a parking lot incident; they backed into the fender well. It’s been hammered out from the inside of the fender. - There’s a hole in the front bumper near the driver’s side from someone dragging the length of their car along it. - The front right speaker cover doesn’t stay on; I have a new one, just never put it on - The dash is cracked in a few places (common on Volvos, the vinyl dash cap is wrapped around foam and over time the foam becomes brittle and cracks) - There’s a crack in the windshield from a rock chip that spread. The rock chip is in the center of the windshield about a third of the way up and has two cracks that run at about 45 degrees diagonally towards the bottom of the windshield. The cracks are not in the driver’s field of vision.
