Vehicle Detail
1969 Pontiac Grand Prix model J. Always a high desert southern Idaho car, 96,344 miles believed to be original miles but I cannot verify this with documentation. The condition of the original parts of the interior lead me to believe this to be true. Originally a 400/automatic car, the original engine was replaced sometime in the past with a ZU code 74 455. The intake and exhaust manifolds, and carb are original. Engine runs great and doesnt smoke at all. The A/C is unhooked and off the car but the original pump, fittings and lines are here and go with the car. The trans is the original TH 400. The body was resprayed sometime in the past white, this was recently sanded down and the car resprayed the original code 89 Castillian bronze (a one year only spring color) with quality BASF products. There were no dents and only a few minor dings needed to be fixed. All of the trim is original as are the bumpers, it all looks good, the chrome on the bumpers should polish up nice. The rear bumper has a scuff on the passenger side approx 3" X 2" but not super noticeable. All the glass is original including the windshield. It is missing one of the "model J" fender emblems and the trunk letters. The trunk lock is here but was not on the car at the time the pics were takern. The interior is original except for the front seat covers which were replaced with a set of PUI covers matched to the original code 287 pearl white. The seat plastics have been redyed with pearl white matched to the original. The rest of the interior is very presentable, the back seat is good as is the rear panels, the carpet is presentable, the door panels look good except for some cracking around the handles, and the dash looks good except for a 3" crack by the speaker opening. The console door is cracked but a good one is included with the car. All of the original weatherstripping is workable, the trunk weatherstrip has been replaced. All the floors and frame are very solid. The trunk floor looks great, no rust and has most of its original splatter coat. This car runs and drives great and is a real head turner. Very comfortable, id drive it across country in a heartbeat.
