This is a NO RESERVE auction with a $1 start price. I you like this car, now is the time to bid to win. I'm going to sell it to the highest bidder. Please be serious about buying the car...I'm having to relist it because of a "buy it now" buyer from last week who never paid or came to see the car. This car could use some TLC, but it is a serviceable and unique car with alot of potential. It would make a very economical commuter for the right person. It would also be a great basis for a vegetable oil (SVO or WVO) conversion. Just examples that came to mind. I have included almost 100 pictures with the listing to provide the full story on the car. If anything is unclear in the pictures or in the description, or if I left out something you'd like to know, please feel free to ask...I will happily answer any questions. I often post questions I receive. If there are any Q&As or other additions, they will appear at the very, very bottom of the listing. I will add some pictures of the undercarriage of the car as soon as I take them. The exterior of the car looks OK for its age. There is no rust to speak of except for a tiny bit on the rocker next to two of the jackpoints...very common on older Mercedes, and not real bad at all on this one (see pictures). A so-so prior repaint is starting to fade, and there are some scratches, dings, and waves as you would expect on a 28 year old car. From a distance, though, it looks OK, and a good coat of wax brought back some shine as you can see from the pictures. The blue MB Tex interior is fair/decent. It could use some TLC here and there. The dash is in good shape. The A/C works, though the on/off is controlled by a relatively inconspicuous toggle switch installed by a prior owner (pictured, as well as the underhood wiring). Some of the door panels need a little help. The console wood is shiny and in good shape. The radio works. A couple of the power windows don't. The central locks work fine. This car is fitted with Mercedes's OM601 2.2 litre 4-cylinder non-turbo diesel engine. This engine in the 190-series replaced the venerable 240D for the '84 model year. The odometer works. The car fires right up and runs smoothly. The clutch takeup is a little chattery the first couple times when the car is cold and has been sitting overnight or longer, but then it smoothes out and is fine. The 5-speed manual shifts great. This car is very slow, but the manual transmission makes it engaging to drive. I have driven the car myself quite a bit, and found it to be very nice for commuting to work and such. This car is not at home on the interstate, though...the suspension shows its age and the motor strains to keep up. This car would make a great economical commuter for the right person. I am a one man car dealer located in Cape Coral, FL. Please read all of my terms and conditions (the following is just a summary). A $250 dealer fee will be added to the winning bid, no exceptions, so please bear that in mind when bidding. A $500 deposit via PayPal instant transfer is due within 24 hours of the auction end, no exceptions, and full payment is due within 3 days of the auction end, no exceptions. This vehicle is being offered strictly AS-IS, no warranty. Please allign your expectations with what has been presented in this listing...this is a 28 year old car in need of a little bit of TLC. If there is anything at all you'd like to know about the car that I haven't covered, please feel free to ask. I can help with competitive shipping quotes for out of town buyers. Thank you for looking!Photo GalleryAdditional InformationWarranty This vehicle is being sold as is, where is with no warranty, expressed written or implied. The seller shall not be responsible for the correct description, authenticity, genuineness, or defects herein, and makes no warranty in connection therewith. No allowance or set aside will be made on account of any incorrectness, imperfection, defect or damage. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to have thoroughly inspected the vehicle, and to have satisfied himself or herself as to the condition and value and to bid based upon that judgement solely. The seller shall and will make every reasonable effort to disclose any known defects associated with this vehicle at the buyer's request prior to the close of sale. Seller assumes no responsibility for any repairs regardless of any oral statements about the vehicle.Terms & ConditionsTerms & Conditions 1. Before You Bid 1.1. Read the Vehicle Description and Ask Questions. I spend a lot of time creating my listings, and I make every effort to thoroughly, accurately and fairly describe the vehicles I offer. If you have a specific question or concern, or if I missed something, please feel free to ask. Please keep in mind that I sell pre-owned vehicles. As with any pre-owned vehicle, minor cosmetic flaws may be visible under close inspection. 1.2. Inspect the Vehicle. I encourage you to inspect the vehicle personally or through an inspection service prior to bidding. If you would like to inspect the vehicle, please call to make arrangements. Most of my vehicles are kept inside. 1.3. Be Aware That Vehicles Are Offered As Is/No Warranty Unless Stated. Unless otherwise stated in the vehicle description, the vehicle is being sold “as-is”, with no warranty. I try to accurately and fairly describe any known mechanical or cosmetic issues. However, as with any vehicle, mechanical or other failures may occur from time to time, and I cannot represent or warranty that they will not. You are responsible for any repairs made after the sale. 1.4. Mileage May Vary Slightly. I indicate the mileage of each vehicle at the time of listing. Please note that actual mileage may be slightly higher at the time of the end of the auction and/or delivery as the vehicle may be driven while the auction is underway. 2. Bidding on the Vehicle 2.1. Ready to Bid? If you’re ready to bid, great! Please keep in mind a few requirements and courtesies. Please intend to, and be ready & able to (financially and otherwise), complete the purchase of the vehicle within the timeframes set out herein. Participating just for sport without the intention to complete the transaction is unfair to me and to other users, and it wastes a lot of time and money. I may obtain the registered information of users participating in my auctions, and may filter or cancel any bids in my discretion. 2.2. I May End An Auction Early. "Buy it now" auctions may end at any time if the buy it now feature is exercised or a "best offer" is accepted. I seldom end "no reserve" auctions early. However, I reserve the right to end any auction without notice at any time for any reason in my sole discretion. 3. Completing the Transaction 3.1. Contact Me. If you are the winning bidder, congratulations! You must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction to make arrangements for the completion of the transaction. Many of my auctions end well after normal business hours, so sending me a message through eBay is generally the best way. 3.2. Pay a Deposit. You must also pay a non-refundable $500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours after the end of the auction to secure the vehicle. 3.3. Pay the Balance Due. You must pay the remaining balance due (plus applicable fees and taxes – please see 3.5, below) within 3 days after the end of the auction. 3.4. Payment Methods. I accept wire transfers, cashier's checks, and cash in person (under $10,000 only). I accept PayPal for the payment of deposits only. All funds must be in US dollars. 3.5. Fees and Taxes. 3.5.1. Dealer Fee. I charge a $250 dealer fee, which will be added to all transactions. This includes winning bids, buy it now prices, and best offers accepted. I don't make exceptions for other licensed dealers. 3.5.2. Sales Tax. 3.5.2.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to collect sales tax at the rate applicable in your county at the time of sale. 3.5.2.2. Out-of-State Buyers. If you have the vehicle shipped to your location, I do not collect any sales tax; you will be responsible for paying your state's sales tax directly. If you come to Florida to pick up the vehicle at my location, I am required to collect either your state's sales tax, or Florida's 6%, whichever is less. Generally, you will receive a credit in your state for sales tax collected here. If I collect our 6% because your state's rate is higher, you will be charged the balance in your state. I always recommend you check with your local tag agency first; although the vast majority of states have a reciprocal sales tax agreement with Florida, a few do not. Some states also have specific forms or procedures that must be used for out-of-state purchases. 3.5.3. Tag & Title. 3.5.3.1. Florida Buyers. I am required to handle your tag and title work, and I collect an estimate of those costs at the time of sale, which range from $100 to $450 depending on your specific situation. If the actual cost of title and registration is less than the estimate, I will refund you the difference; if the actual cost is more that the estimate, you will be required to pay the difference before getting your tag and title. I do not make any money on tax, tag, registration and title fees I collect. 3.5.3.2. Out-of-State Buyers. I will provide you with the vehicle's title, and you will be responsible for handling the tag and title work in your state. 3.6. Exchange Documents and Signatures. There are, unfortunately, paperwork requirements for completing the transaction, which vary depending on whether you are from out-of-state or not. These will be discussed when you contact me initially. 3.7. If You Fail to Pay or Communicate with Me. I expect the transaction to go smoothly. However, if you fail to (i) make contact with me, (ii) pay the deposit, (iii) provide me with required signatures/documents, or (iv) pay the remaining balance (including applicable fees, taxes, and charges), within the timeframes set forth herein, I reserve the right to keep your deposit and re-list the vehicle or otherwise sell it as I see fit, without notice, in my sole discretion. I also reserve the right to report the issue to eBay in my sole discretion. 4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle 4.1. Shipping. It is frequently less expensive to have a vehicle shipped to your location than it is to fly in and drive it back, and certainly more hassle-free. I can assist you in finding a shipper and can get very competitive shipping quotes. You pay the shipper directly and are responsible for delivery arrangements. I assume no responsibility for damage to the vehicle incurred after it leaves my premises. Your vehicle will be available to ship out once full payment is received and has cleared; I send out titles once payment has cleared and all other paperwork requirements of the transaction are completed. 4.2. Pick Up. I am located at 2645 NE 9th Ave in Cape Coral, Florida. I am easily accessible from US 41 and from Interstate 75. If you plan to fly in, I will pick up at RSW - Southwest Florida Int’l Airport in Fort Myers (commercial) or FMY - Page Field in Fort Myers (private) or PGD - Charlotte County Airport (commercial & private) in Punta Gorda. Please contact me to make arrangements if you are planning to pick the vehicle up. Vehicles are available for drive-off once full payment and all paperwork requirements are completed. See our other listingsDisclaimer: This auction is a legally binding contract to buy this vehicle. All vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise specified. I have done my best to accurately describe this vehicle. Here’s a very rare 1984 Mercedes-Benz 190D 2.2 DIESEL with a 5-SPEED MANUAL transmission up for sale.

Terms & Conditions

1. Before You Bid

2. Bidding on the Vehicle

3. Completing the Transaction

4. Take Delivery of Your New Vehicle

This auction is a legally binding contract to buy this vehicle. All vehicles are sold as-is unless otherwise specified. I have done my best to accurately describe this vehicle. It is up to the buyer to come see and further inspect the car before the end of the auction.--> On Aug-02-12 at 08:17:44 PDT, seller added the following information: On Aug-04-12 at 11:23:35 PDT, seller added the following information: A number of bidders have asked me to elaborate on how the car performs on the highway. I had only briefly had it on the highway, so I decided to take it on two roadtrips I had planned over the last couple of days so I could give an accurate accounting for everyone. My travels (and the car) took me from Cape Coral to Lakeland, FL and back and to Ft. Lauderdale, FL and back. The car performed better than expected on the roadtrips. I wouldn't call it the most composed highway car I've ever been in, but it was certainly acceptable. It tracks more or less OK...it's when you go over bumps or uneven pavement at speed that you feel there's some slop in the suspension. It wasn't such a handfull that I couldn't hold a coffee cup in one hand and steer, and eat a breakfast burrito with the other :) But it does require more steering inputs than normal over bumpy or undulating pavement. The driver's seat bottom cushion is somewhat uneven due to the springs sagging or breaking (it's common in older Mercedes seats), and I found it uncomfortable after a while. I used a towel to even out the seating surface, which worked fine for me. If this car were my daily driver, I would attempt to stuff the seat bottom to get it even, which I did once on a Mercedes seat with decent success. Or I would replace the seat with an inexpensive used unit. The RR window crept down a couple of inches (it is one of the ones that doesn't work, the other being the driver's window, which stayed put) while I was underway. The radio works. On the trip to Lakeland, I used mostly state roads with speed limits ranging up to 65 MPH; I took Alligator Alley (I-75) to Ft. Lauderdale and drove a couple MPH over the 70MPH speed limit. The car accelerates very slowly. But it didn't have any trouble achieving these highway speeds. The cruise doesn't work, but it wasn't difficult to maintain a steady speed. I noticed some fluctuations in the operating temperature depending on how fast my sustained speed was, whether the A/C was on or not, and how hot it was outside. Most of the time the temp gauge stayed between 85-95 C, but I saw a maximum of about 103C...with the A/C on full bore, having just crossed Alligator Alley a second time, and with the outside temp showing as 35.5C (about 96F). The A/C was good in the morning but had trouble staying ahead in the hot & humid August afternoon. I didn't chart fuel economy on the Fort Lauderdale trip, but I did for Lakeland, and the car did great: 37 MPG. This experience aside, as a matter of policy I don't recommend that customers fly in and have their first outing with an unfamiliar older car be a hundreds or thousands of miles road trip. Especially when shipping is often times a less expensive alternative anyway, when you add it all up. Thank you for looking and for your interest in this car! Any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Tracy
