Vehicle Detail
Up for auction and selling this week is a great 1974 MGB roadster. This car is purported to be a numbers matching car. I have done my research online and believe it to be so but you would need to do your own research to ensure that is the case. The vin / commission number is GHN5UE332691G, engine number is 18V6722-L13121 and body tag number is G23N093273. Date of commission was 10/73. If you run the trace through the Heritage-Motor-Centre.co.uk and it comes back like I think it will the value of the car will increase at least $1500. The car is showing 56,387 miles but I can not verify that these miles are correct ( sure looks like a 56 k car ) so it is being sold as mileage exempt. The exterior of the car looks great. The paint is shinny with a few blemishes and for a driver I would say it looks great ( just my opinion and yours may vary ). The chrome bumpers, grill, door handles, windshield frame, side vent window frames, luggage rack and side mirrors look absolutely great ( see photos ). The chrome windshield wiper arms and blades have been recently replaced. The car has a new Robbins soft top with zip out rear window. The car has 4 new matching radial tires and they really improve the handling of the car. The wheels have been recently redone in correct Moss silver / gloss black centers, new chrome lug nuts and new chrome wheel trim rings ( see photo ). The windshield, door glass and vent windows are scratch and cloud free. The lens are all correct Lucas brand and are clear and crack free. The interior is in excellent condition with near new carpet and seats / door panels are rip / tear free. All gauges including the tachometer, speedometer, temp gauge, gas gauge, oil pressure gauge are working properly. The speedometer cable has been recently replaced. Car does have a battery cut of switch. All front / rear running lights work, all front / rear turn signals work, brake lights work, back up lights work, licence plate light works, trunk light works, interior courtesy light works, head lights work high / low beam, horn works, fan motor works, wipers work, dash gauge lights work, dash light dimmer switch works, cigarette lighter works, radio works, hazard switch works and the trunk light works. The suspension is very good and the car sits evenly and squarely on the ground ( see photos ) and has none of the dreaded MG squatting or leaning. I just had the car tuned up and she is ready for the road ( points, plugs, wires, cap, button, oil and coolant ). The car starts right up with no smoke or engine noises. The car holds good oil pressure ( right at 55 lbs when warm ), idles right at 950 rpm's and does not over heat even on long trips at highway speeds. The car shifts up / down through all gears with no binding, scraping or noises. Car does not have over drive. The car starts at the touch of the key and I would have no issues diving it on a long distances trip. I just completed a 75 mile trip at highway speeds and the car preformed perfectly. The car has an after market cruise control system and I'll tell you its pretty nice when driving on the highway. The rear brakes and wheel cylinders have been replaced as well as the front wheel bearings. All door and glass seals / gaskets are in very good condition. The car comes with the original jack , lug wrench and spare tire with new rubber on it. I would call this a higher end driver quality car that you can get in and drive, enjoy and spend no money on. Again, not a show car but one really great driver quality car. The car does NOT have a top cover or tonneau cover. I don't want any one to be disappointed with the car so please ask any and all questions prior to bidding. I would highly encourage all that are interested to come see and drive the car as I don't want the winning bidder to be disappointed when they get the car. To be clear again this is not a show car just a good daily driver / driver quality car. I have a clear NC title in hand. The auction is the sell the car not win and then decide so have your funds ready by auctions end. If you need to transport the car you can get a FREE low cot estimate on the web at Able Auto Transport ( I have used them in the past and they pick up and delivery very, very fast. I reserve the right to end auction if I get an offer over the starting price. If you don't want to wait till auctions end make me an offer over the starting price and maybe we can make a deal. However, I will only use E-bays prescribed methods to end the auction. The auction is open to overseas bidders and you would need to pay in full via PayPal ( add 4% to the selling price as that is what PayPal will charge me to receive the funds ). If you need to ship overseas try Ronex shipping for free quotes.
