1978 PONTIAC TRANS AM Up for auction is a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am. This is a 4 speed car with the desirable high output 400 engine. It is a numbers matching car (the numbers on the engine block match the vin). The engine has been rebuilt and does have the 6X heads. A ram air 3 cam from Ames was installed as well as a high flow water pump and thermostat. The accessories on the front of the motor were replaced also. The radiator is a 4 row brass unit built for the vehicle. The a/c does work and was rebuilt and a new heater core and fan motor were installed. The 4 speed transmission was rebuilt and a new clutch and throw out bearing were installed. The u joints were replaced. The 3:42 safe t track rear differential has been rebuilt. The car does have the 3/4" rear sway bar that was part of the WS 6 suspension package. The exhaust system is new and features a true dual system with Magnaflow mufflers and polished stainless steel splitters. The exhaust manifolds were sand blasted and jet coated for a clean long lasting appearance. The front suspension was disassembled, sand blasted, painted then reassembled using poly graphite bushings. A new quick ratio steering box was installed at the same time as well as poly graphite sub frame bushings. New motor and transmission mounts were added at the same time. A set of tubular sub frame connectors from Ram Air Enterprises were installed and a set of Bilstine shocks were installed on all four corners. The rear suspension also received Poly Graphite bushings and Guldstrand rear shackles. The car was soda blasted to bare metal then painted and treated to a set of decals from Phoenix Graphix. The T Tops are Fisher tops and all of the weather stripping was replaced at the same time. The wheels are 15 X 8 snowflakes that were sand blasted then painted then machined as was done at the factory. The tires are new 245/60/15 B F Goodrich T A Radials. The interior has new door panels, arm rests, head liner carpet and sound deadener, console, package tray, visors, door sils, steering wheel, rear view mirror, pedal covers and a stereo from custom auto sound with a I pod connection and 6 X 9 Pioneer speakers. The dash was re dyed and does not have any cracks. This is a very nice vehicle the draws alot of attention. This car is advertised locally and may be sold prior to the end of auction date.
