Vehicle Detail

1974 AMC JAVELIN, 304 2BBL V-8, FACTORY AIR, AUTOMATIC. Starts easily and runs very good, exhaust sounds very nice. I drive it on regular weekend basis, gets lots of attention and comments from bystanders. The Javelin is dependabile and I drive it often with confidence. Mileage is what is indicated on odometer. Due to mechanical limitations of odometer, the actual mileage is unknown and likely in excess of 100K. The Javelin is a good dependable vehicle for either a daily driver or basis for a restoration project....vehicle is stock and has not been modified. I bought it to restore, it is a solid vehicle. Included are new wood grain tape for dash, replacement AMC AM/FM radio same era as the Javelin, 1975 Chilton Automotive Repair Manual for American Cars. Javelin has four matching tires and rims, plus two space saving spares. The starting bid is the reserve. Vehicle is sold as is, no warranty. Bill of Sale only, prior to 1975 State of Alabama did not issue vehicle titles. Alabama Department of Revenue has been contacted and can provide information to assist in other states requiring titles. If you have any questions, please ask prior to bidding. My reason for selling the Javelin is to help finance and speed up the restoration of another project vehicle. The vehicle appears to have been originally yellow, during its lifetime, the vehicle has been dark brown, now it is red. The blemishes on the paint are mostly where the paint flaked off during pressure washing but has some small surface rust areas. How does the vehicle run? Notice the photo of the speedometer....no it is not broke...photo was taken at while driving at 84 MPH, Javelin will do more. State of Alabama does not use salt or other corrosive chemicals on the highways to eliminate snow and ice, mainly because there is not significant amounts of either one, usually it is allowed to melt naturally. Javelin appears to have virtually zero rust on the underside. I just had the oil / filter changed and took photos while it was on the service rack. Photos of trunk show the only area with significant rusting, most likely due to trunk weather stripping leaking and water collecting in trunk for extended periods of time. I pressure washed the entire vehicle and removed any loose paint to clearly show where it had surface rust or flaking paint, such as the flaking paint in the door jambs. These photos were taken July 24, 2012. The floor pans are solid, the exterior only has a few spots with minor surface rust. The trunk is the only area that has significant rust damage as shown in the photos, appears to be from a leaking trunk rubber seal. The Javelin is for sale locally and the auction is subject to ending early.... Purchaser is responsible for arranging shipping, but I will cooperate as possible.
