Vehicle Detail
1973 Dodge Dart Sport 340, Real H code A/C 340 Survivor! Here is one great find! Previous owner bought in 1980 and the Dart Sport just recently came out of a 16-year slumber after the previous owner passed away. His wife kept under cover in dry storage since his passing. This DartSport is in fantastic original condition, not restored. Had a repaint over 20 yrs ago in what looks to be a lacquer finish, and has held up incredibly well for it's age - has a deep gloss and vibrant color to it! It is a date-code correct stock 340 engine matched with the original 727 TorqueFlite 3spd trans. 8.25 rear end. Front Power Disc Brakes, Power Steering, all A/C in tact and ready for retro-fit unless you have a supplier of the old R-12 refrigerant, Heavy duty front suspension with factory sway bar, Factory Dual-exhaust complete with original Chrsyler Hemi-style turbo mufflers and correct original exhaust tips, Fender turn signals, original wheel lip mouldings, Dual-snorkel 340 hood scoop, 70's Go-wing, DartSport 340 badging and Sport stripes down the sides of the car, chrome Sport mirrors, stock Sport interior w/Buddy-seat style center rest, rear Vent 'wing' windows, factory tinted glass, original un-cut dash with 80's style Sherwood stereo, very RARE and unique 'Hang Ten'-style rear fold-down seats. Hang Ten referring to the ability to put a surfboard in the trunk and thru the rear seat area.....or a Christmas tree! There are just some really neat, cool and unique features to this DartSport 340! The paint finish as I said is an older lacquer finish that looks incredible. It is 20+ yrs old, so expect some imperfections. There is an area of light checking near the roofline, some scratches touched up with touch-up paint years ago. The body is very straight and CLEAN. The underside is just as clean! This DartSport was refinished back in the day, but was never molested, torn down,etc....it is just a very very clean original survivor! The interior is in EXCELLENT condition! There is one small seam tear about 2" long on the DR seat that is very unnoticeable. The door panels, headliner, carpeting, dash pad, interior trim is all in unbelieveable condition. The high-back seats are so incredibly comfortable - unlike any other older car you've been in. It really would be a joy to cruise in or go on a long ride to a cruise-in or car show. Everything on this DartSport works! Every light, switch, option and bulb is in working order. The heat works, the air blows but as I mentioned would be in need of a recharge if R-12 was still available. The DartSport 340 starts right up, idles smooth and can turn tires quite well if commanded to - this is not the lackluster 6cyl or 318, it is the sought-after healthy 340. Match that with a lightweight A-body, and it can make the nay-sayers go 'hmmm'... It is stock, but for 1973, this was the top performer for A-bodies and for B-bodies for that matter too. The Dart Sport was recently given a BEAUTIFUL set of Cragar Street Stars wrapped in NEW (still have stickers stuck to them)rear BF Goodrich 255/60/15's, while the front sports Douglas Ultra 205/65/15's with near new tread. The rear Cragars are 15x10's and the fronts look to be 15x6's. This is the only thing that (along with the Sherwood stereo) is NOT stock. The original 14" Rallye wheels are available - complete with trim rings, centers and BRAND NEW Performance Radial GT tires in RWL's - 225/70/14 in rear and 195/70/14 in front. The auction is for the DartSport with the Cragar Street Stars. Should the wise & proud new owner prefer the original Rallye wheels instead of the Cragars, that would not be a problem. Your choice of either set of wheels and tires, but NOT both are included in the auction. Oh, and the original Goodyear Polyglas white-lettered G70-14 spare is still in the trunk in great condition! The chrome front bumper is in NEW condition, the rear bumper is in very good driver-quality condition - a ding on the corner and light finish wear. All trim and wheel lip mouldings are straight and in very good condition. All glass is in very good shape - a couple light scratches may be able to found, but nothing that deters the appearance at all. The DartSport did receive a new Master cylinder. What else can I say? This is an exceptional example of a well-cared for CLEAN survivor. Having the same owners since 1980 is evident in the car not being hacked/molested and keep in a dry garage with a cover on it. Take a look at the photos, take it all in, and then place your bids! Don't miss out on this opportunity to own this sharp original 340 car in highly-desireable original condition with the right options and goodies and some non-deterring 'patina'. Any car can be restored, but they are only original once! Good Luck, Happy bidding! Please Email serious & intelligent questions. You can ask the same thing in an Email that you can on the phone, so please don't ask for phone calls to talk about a car you or a buddy or an uncle used to own 30 years ago. The new owner of this car knows what a find THIS car is, not one that is long gone. Your bid is a contract and auction instructions and timelines will be adhered to, please no bidding games. Refer to payment section for full details. Thanks!
