Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Up for bid is my 1976 Porsche 911 wide body conversion. It is powered by a 1981 3.0 SC engine. For those of you familiar with these cars, the 3.0 is known as the most “bullet proof” of all the Porsche air cooled engines and was my number one criteria when I purchased this one. I purchased this car in June of 2005 in Southern California and have driven it 9,000 trouble free miles. The previous owner had the car for 13 years and had the engine, transmission, body and interior done 700 miles earlier. The body work was done by 911 Design in Montclair, CA and all mechanicals were done by Precision Motion, Kravig Engineering in Riverside, CA. All work was completed in 2002. The entire body is steel, not the problematic fiberglass flares that tend to crack, and the paint remains in very good condition. Although the car is registered as a ’76, it has the look of one of the later year 930’s. These cars are prone to rock chips on the front of the hood and there are currently very few. There is some road rash on the rockers at the rear flares which is normal and an easy repair, if not normal maintenance, and there are no chips in the body at the flares. The car has only been driven on nice days since my ownership and has been kept covered in a climate controlled garage. All maintenance has been done by a Porsche authorized shop and I have receipts for any work done under my ownership. There is an extensive file of receipts and documents from the previous owner but most of it applies to the days when it was a silver narrow body and before the mechanical rebuild. The interior if fairly decent with some wear on the driver’s seat. The carpet does not appear to be Porsche material and it needs the front storage carpet kit replaced. All gauges work. There is a small oil leak at one of the fittings under the oil tank which run to and from the oil cooler up front but it is minimal. It wears polished Fuchs shod with Toyo tires that appear to have about 50% wear. It does have a clear title and has never been salvaged. Overall, this car is a real head turner and is a blast to drive! It runs great and is very dependable. This could be your chance to own a beautiful and reliable Porsche for a fraction of what it would cost to buy an original. California bidders beware: Due to the fact the engine and chassis are of different years, you will not be able to get this car to pass smog. 1976 is the first year that is required to be tested in CA.Payment will be accepted via cashier's check, money order or cash in Person.
