hi - i am officially putting this neat 4x4 jeep pickup truck up for sale as my back is too injured to continue the restoration work. this is a very rare 1965 model truck which was the very last of thses willys / jeep fc trucks built and were also the best built examples from the factory. this truck is a rust-free project vehicle from southern california originally and comes with many great parts and is the ideal fc truck to restore and all of the hard to find specialty parts are present plus i am including some extras. it is not currently running or driving ..... it is a project vehicle ------- location of truck...... i live in dallas texas w zip code 75234 for your transporting estimates and most of the extra parts are also here with it. if youre interested , please read on and i will get more specific about the truck - feel free to call me w questions and/or email me for additional pictures including pictures that show the truck before i started working on it and when it was outside so you can see the whole overall look of the jeep as its now in my garage and i couldnt find help to push it all of the way outside for these pictures. **** i am starting this 10 day auction on sunday evening 7/22 and the auction will end on WEDNESDAY NIGHT 8 / 01 **** i have a lot of money invested into this truck and its parts and setting a low reserve price and ive priced it to sell ! i already know i will be loosing money but i can no longer work on it. this is going to be a great deal for somebody ! more details on this 65 fc-170 long-bed pickup truck .... this truck has been in dry & sunny southern california all of its life and still has its old original california black license plates and is still wearing its original dark blue paint work. truck has been mostly sitting around since 1972 and a previous owner had removed the factory 6 cylinder engine and replaced it with a small block chevy v8 motor which is currently adapted to the original manual transmission and transfer case. my plans were to install a fresh high-perf chevy 350 and then run an automatic transmission which is an easy conversion to do and make this truck into a street machine / highway cruiser but its future will be in the hands of its next owner of course. i purchased and installed a very special and stronger rear-end assembly into this truck - it now has the popular Dana 60 in it with correct 5 lug axles and it now has a 3.54 gear and i prepped it and gave it a nice black paintjob and installed new heavy duty spring mounting plates and u-bolts. i removed the rear leaf spring assemblies from both sides and took them apart and sanded / polished the leaves , re-painted and also used a special dry graphite coating so they will perform smoother. i have cleaned and beadblasted and repainted many small parts and also had much of its hardware re-plated in the frosty silver-cad finish before re-assembly. i also stripped & re-painted much of the chassis from the cab back before installing the springs and new rearend. rearend has new brake drums and brake parts and i also searched for a set of vintage aluminum slotted mag wheels in size 15x7 for quite some time and then found this set , cleaned them up and just had a good set of 31 x 10.50 all terrain tires installed on them . the wheels are actually the special ones that came optional on some early 1970s cj jeep renegade models which i thought would give it a nice period correct performance look to the truck. also---this truck sits level and still has nice arch to the original leaf-springs ! front axle is the original Dana 44 and still has the factory Dual-Matic lockout hubs on it which look great. this truck does currently roll and steers and all 4 tires hold air of course - however the brakes are not hooked up and will need attention by new owner - the master cylinder and front 11" drum parts are all available brand new and are fairly cheap. you will also want to replace the wiring harness which luckily ...you can buy a complete plug-in wiring harness specifically made for this truck for only 250. ( it is a 12 volt truck too ) body & paint..... this truck has the most rust-free body you could ever hope to find in one of these forward control pickup trucks ! paint is faded but its original paint so you dont have to worry about buying a truck with previous rust or wreck repairs. this truck is super-straight and has an extremely clean rust-free bed and cab. great part about it..... its definitely worth starting off with a rust-free example of these trucks as they were prone to serious rust problems everywhere , and this particular truck doesnt have rust through anywhere except for the tiny spot that i have pictured on the drivers side rear cab corner which is super-minor and just needs welded up before giving her a nice paint job. the factory step-side style bed is the 9 ft long version and is amazingly straight and also rust-free. no rust holes anywhere on bed and also equally important is that the bed floor and the bed sides are extremely nice and dont have the usual dents or dings from carrying cargo. someone had sprayed some rust-colored primer on the inside floor of the bed which comes off and original blue is underneath it - only some pitting is visible in the up-front bottom floor of the bed and all of its seams are nice and clean. still lines up great too !! very straight and lines up as it should. more about the body.... front floors are clean , the inner and outer metal-work around the front windshield and rear window are also extremely clean and no rust ! biggest thing wrong w the truck when i bought it was the previous owner cut the engine tunnel out of the interior of the cab for making the engine swap easier , i have since then located , purchased and brought home another fc-170 cab that i am getting help w cutting the tunnel out of it and will include it with this truck , or you can take the whole extra cab w you if you wanted to deal with moving it - thats up to you but i can at least cut the tunnel and put it in the bed of the truck w all of the other extra parts im including in this sale. the doors are also very straight & rust-free and both have great hinges and open & close just fine. there will be a few holes to weld-up here and there such as the drivers front below the windshield area as it looks like it used to have a rearview mirror or maybe a spotlight bolted on , and there is only 2 or maybe 4 1/4 " holes drilled in the bed floor on the pass side and then theres 2 small holes above the rear cab engine cooling screen that is also an easy repair to be done. front face of truck looks great - there are some dents on top of its roof that should be fixed before repainting the truck but rest of body is very nice. you will definitely save money in the long run of this trucks restoration since theres no rust repairs to deal with and it should turn out very nice since it is so straight and rust free. extra parts INCLUDED AT NO EXTRA CHARGE with this truck are ..... freshly restored factory gas tank w filler neck & mounting straps , new old stock front turn signal and rear taillight assemblies already installed , a very nice extra dashboard w ashtray and no radio holes , special bendix vintage 8k tachometer from military airplane , original radiator and extra fan shroud , extra front skid plates , extra seats , gauges , new ignition switch , the missing blue armrest for pass door , stock dana 53 rearend if you want it , driveshaft for rear , extra windshield wiper arms and related parts plus nicer hardware for wipers , original owners manual , shop manual and parts book are included , extra transmission linkages for 3 spd manual , also have the extra 64 model fc170 cab that has original transfer-case shifter and linkage parts , and i know theres more ----------such as extra nice heater assembly , plus an extra heater assembly , spare tire side mount , and more ! sunvisors , weather seals , and also including a mint condition pair of the unique fc-170 cab emblems ! i think about covers it , priced to sell ! very rare & unique 4x4 pickup truck that will get tons of attention and would be an absolute hit at the local car cruises one day ! On Jul-23-12 at 13:37:24 PDT, seller added the following information: also--- i found and purchased a set of original west coast jr side mirrors for this truck and those are included w truck too. i am not advertising this jeep elsewhere and i will let this auction run until the very end and go to the highest bidder once my reserve price has been met. i will not be ending this auction early - thanks , steve On Jul-24-12 at 10:50:43 PDT, seller added the following information: the cool little jeep truck has met my reserve price and will definitely be going to a new home at the end of the auction ! also---- ive gotten a few emails about selling parts seperately , but im going to give all of the spare parts to the new owner. thanks ! steve On Jul-25-12 at 10:13:22 PDT, seller added the following information: i have double-checked and verified that there are no cracks at all in the front fiberglass fender flares - they are grey now as theyre faded and were originally painted black. also----ive already checked and theres No cracks in the frame between the front leaf spring rear mounts and the transmission crossmember. this one does have a very nice looking frame and isnt pitted either - so it will look great when all repainted. one more detail - the Dana 60 rearend was all rebuilt and freshened up inside when i bought it and it has 3.54 gears , i never got around to rebuilding the Dana 44 front axle so that one still has the old original 4.10 or so gears in it and you will want to make sure to change them so they match the new rear gears before using 4 wheel drive.
