NO RESERVE AUCTION!! $1.00 Starting Bid!! 1990 Mazda Miata Convertible Quick, Sporty, Fun Car For Summer! Brand new wheel bearings, brake disks, high performance brake pads, and rebuilt brake calipers! Brand new Flyin' Miata SS Brake Lines Installed! Only 124,313 miles I am running this auction on behalf of my dad, because he does not use the internet. This car belongs to his small car dealership. It runs and drives great, and is ready to hit the road. I was preparing this as a dealership-sponsored car to run in SCCA Solo2, STS class (hence all the new brake-work), but I am now working 6 days a week, and do not have time for racing, so we decided to sell the car. As is listed above, this is a NO RESERVE auction, so this car will go to the highest bidder. This is a 1990 Mazda Miata convertible. It is in average condition for the age, perhaps slightly better, and the mileage for this age of car is relatively low. The car is in stock form, un-modified. It has the 1.6 liter 4-cylinder engine with the 5-speed manual transmission. Red exterior with black interior. It has an airbag, an aftermarket radio with CD player, cruise control, power windows, and A/C. All the lights work, and it has Bridgestone tires with good tread on them. The manual top is simple to operate and can be put down or up in a few seconds. I can even raise or lower the top with one arm while sitting in the driver's seat. The interior is in pretty good condition for the age, except for the carpet. This is a great little car that I was using off and on during weekends while I was getting it ready for autocross racing. I had one of these years ago and loved it, and always intended to get another and get back into autocross / solo2. There is nothing quite like a Miata for fun, sporty, reliable driving thrills on the cheap! The small size, low weight, and 50/50 weight distribution gives them excellent handling characteristics. They stick to the road like glue, and have just enough grunt in the little engine to push you around in the seat. They are just all-around fun cars to drive, whether you are competing on a course, going for a weekend drive, or just doing the daily grind to work. In addition, these cars are reliable, cheap to run, and with this being a 1990, it has reached historic status, and qualifies for cheap registration and insurance! This Miata is a perfect base to start with for racing prep, or just to leave alone and drive, because it has been left in stock form, has relatively low mileage, and has a solid body. The engine runs great, the clutch is good and the transmission shifts easily through all the gears without any grinding. I am not sure if this one has the LSD or not. As mentioned above, I have rebuilt the entire braking system already in preparation for Solo2, and I have the receipts to prove it. This car has new wheel bearings, centric brake disks, the brake calipers were rebuilt with new seals, cylinders, sliders and springs, SS brake lines from Flyin' Miata were installed (properly – no leaks!), and at the recommendation of the guys at Flyin' Miata, new Porterfield R4S brake pads all around. The braking system was then bled. Whether on the road or track, this car will stop on a dime. The bad points I can see on this car are: there is a small rust spot in front of the rear wheel arch on the driver's side, the driver's window is off its track, there is a small dent in the driver's door, the car has been re-sprayed red, but you can still see the original white under the hood and in the trunk, the carpet needs to be replaced as it is cut out on the passenger's side, the roof does not leak, but does have a small spot that has been repaired with some thick adhesive, the A/C needs to be charged, and other than that, it just has the typical little dings in the paint that are expected in a 22 year-old car. This will make a great car for someone, whether they are looking to get into Solo 2, or just want a fun summer road car. It pains me to have to sell it, and to give up on getting back into racing, but working 6 days a week, I can't be bothered to spend my one day off trailering a car to meets and standing out in the sun all day just to get in 3 or 4 runs, so it needs to go to someone else. PLEASE READ:Bidders with zero or negative feedback, and overseas bidders, must contact me prior to bidding – I will delete your bids otherwise. This car is sold AS IS, with NO WARRANTY. Please examine the supersized photos, and contact me if you have any questions. Serious bidders are welcome to come see the car, just give me notice ahead of time so I can adjust my schedule. Since this car is being sold by a dealership, if the buyer has a valid driver's license and proof of insurance, a 2-month temp. tag can be supplied at an additional cost of $35. Maryland Residents: This car is not MD-state inspected. It is over 20 years old, so if the buyer is a MD resident, the car will be sold as historic. This car is owned by Chesaco Car Company, a MD car dealership, so if the buyer is a MD resident, then the State of MD requires that my dad collect a tax of 6% of the sale price. Also, for MD residents the MVA requires that the title be processed through the MVA, at a cost of $100, which will be added to the auction price. These costs are imposed on MD residents by the government - not my dad! They do not apply if the winning bidder is not a Maryland resident. Payment is to be made in CASH at pick-up. Winning bidder must contact me within 24 hours of the end of the auction. The car must be picked up within 1 week of the end of the auction.
