Vehicle Detail
Hello im paintsniffer and welcome to my auction. Up for sale we have my 50 ford f100 hot rat rod. I call it a "hot rat rod" because it has mixed parts making it a rat but now with a complete makeover its just to clean to be a rat so it's hot. hot rat rod. This will be the third time the truck will be listed here (third time charm?). The first time the highest bid was just shy of making my reserve when time ended. Due to popular demand i relisted the truck with a starting bid very near what my reserve was and after 3 days I had a local buyer tell me he wanted it and I could pull it off ebay. That buyer showed up with 2k less than what was agreed upon and I did not sell. After that I decided thats it im going to do a no reserve highest bid wins it and be done. I bought this truck early this year out of the state of michigan as a spray bombed black rat rod. After driving it a bit I decided the truck just looked to cool with its stance and look to leave it rough around the edges. I started tearing it down and went way further than I was initially going to. Before I go on telling you what was done let me tell you alittle more about what the truck is. As you know it's a 50 ford body. The frame is from a 64 chevy short bed truck. The engine is a 35k 1989 302 mustang high output engine. The transmission is a fmx auto but does have a manual valve body (shift your auto). The brakes and steering are both manual. steering is surprisingly easy. With that said, The frame was taken to bare metal via sand blasting and all grime and dirt was removed. All suspension was left in place and also sandblasted. When it came back I hung it from the ceiling and got it ready for paint.the frame was sprayed with a wet on wet sealer and silver base and clear. The frame is z'd nicely and boxed in that location. It has also been snubbed up front. I then went into the body. The hood was taken to bare metal on both sides. The inner supports were stregnthened due to the hole for the tunnel ram. the open front portal holes were close in with a nice touch. The old trim that went around those front holes were legnthened and welded in next to the portal holes. The under side of the hood where the hood latch normally is was plated over and welded for a flat smooth underside. The hood is now locked down via 2 brackets that come down with the hood that slide over 2 pins attached to the top of the grille. The grille was cut to fit and 2 toned nicely. The firewall has been shaved and is flat and straight with a picture like border. The cab had all the rockers restyled sporting a triangulated look. this shape was carried through to the cab corners. All rusted metal was removed and new 18-20 gauge metal welded in. The same with the bottoms of the doors. On both doors a good 3 inches was removed from the front and back sides of the doors and all new welded in. If you notice in the videos the insides of the doors on the bottom side are very nice and very unique with a custom touch. The insides of the doors as well as the outside was taken to bare metal. All old paint from the fron to back and top to bottom was taken to metal. The cab after it was taken to bare metal was hit with a skim thin coat of polyester metal glaze and blocked down by hand. All body work is super straight as you will see in the videos. The drip rails were shortened to gain access to the body line from door to cab. The inside of the cab has a nice 2 tone paint scheme and I used a stone splatter spray to fill all the inbetween areas between the framing. The framing was painted black base/clear.The cab is channeled but done nice with a boxed in frame withing the cab. The cab flooring is polished aluminum diamond plate. The roof has a very cool custom old school lace paint job. The bed is home made and is 100% solid metal. Also very straight. The wood in the bed is a treated unknown bed that has been cleared and it hinges from the front side to reveal the under side. I welded in a sheet of metal between the rails to hold the battery and other stuff if need be. The taillights are from a 59 galaxie I believe. The rear bumper is a piece of pvc plastic painted to look black. everyone thinks its metal. There is a mounted beer keg and it is the fuel tank. On top of the keg is a ss crager tri pod center cap that "spins".All of the fuel line is a high quality braided 1/2" fuel line. There is a brand new holley red fuel pump and a new large summit prefilter as well as a regulator and gauge also from summit. I used "earls" anodized fuel line connectors. The engine is stock on the lower half but does have roller rockers and lifters. The engine had 35k on it I was told when it was bought and cleaned and painted. We added all new seals and gaskets at that time. (last month). the weiand tunnel ram has been painted base clear and is 2 toned top and bottom. The exhaust is open headers. The engine has many new accessories added including a new gilmer wide pulley kit and chrome alt. as well as a new alumin waterpump, starter and billet alt bracket. The truck also has a new seat, new summit 2 1/16th white face 7 color gauges, new front and rear glass, new ez wiring harness and fuse block, new steering wheel. I have a shoe box of receipts all from this year. There is bright blue led lights mounted under the rockers and can come on with the flick of a switch. The turn signals are toggle switches mounted side by side and can operate independently. All the headlights and turn signals/brake lights work as they should. All new stainless screws and bolts were used on the doors. The doors have new hinge pins and rubber gaskets behind the handles. There is also new rubber stoppers keeping the doors from banging when shutting.all new stainless bolts were used on the bed.The tires are mickey thompson sporstmans and are still fairly new. I have been told the wheels are a nascar wheel but I am unsure. There is much time and money invested in this truck. I will be adding 2 videos and can give you a link to 400+ pictures of the build. I built it because it was my dream truck but now my daily driver is down and i need another vehicle to take its place. I also sold my 3 bay matco toolbox to help finance the building of this truck and need another toolbox. This truck should bring and can bring way more than what im sure it will bring here on a 7 day no reserve auction. The 48-52 cabs are hard to find anymore without spending 5k and thats for rusted rotted cabs. The only things this truck needs is as follows: 1. The truck has drum manual brakes and they are soft. They need new shoes. they work now but could be dangerous so i wouldnt advice driving it home. 2. the return spring which is just that a big spring for the brake pedal needs replaced. sometimes you have to slide your foot behind the pedal all pull it back a 1/4" more to turn the brake lights off. 3.the radiator is old and to small for what could be there. The truck averages a 205 temp and it can climb up to 215 220 easy on a hot day in traffic. its never overheated or boiled.I was going to upgrade it but i have no more funds to put into the truck. 4. there is no door glass or hardware installed. I have the old but would never install it on this truck.lmc has all these things very reasonable and available. 5. wiper motor is hooked up but the vacuum line that powers it is not. I was told it works but never tried. That is it. thats all it needs. I drove the truck to its first show last weekend and it was a huge hit. I just forgot to bring along a for sale sign. There has been well over 1000 hours put into this truck. I have put $5,000 in it just in parts and materials. Please if you have any questions at all dont hesitate to ask. This is my first vehicle sale here on ebay and i want it to go as smooth as possible. I have a clear Illinois title in my name. Trades? maybe what do you have? I will not end auction this time UNLESS cash has been laid in my hand. I have it advertised local for $20,000. Therefore I do RESERVE the right to end the auction early if the cash has been laid in my hand for I do have it for sale locally. Buyer is responsible for his or her own shipping arrangements and costs. The width of the front tires edge to edge is 7 feet 1 inch so after auction ends be sure to contact your shipper and tell them this for if its to wide I will help with locating 2 junk wheels and tires that are smaller for loading. I will also include all extra parts I have on hand to go with it. I will require a deposit of $1,000 due within 24 hours of auction end and the remaining balance due within 72 hours of auction end. The deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. Please be sure to have your finances in order prior to bidding. As with any vehicle sale it is allways better to see it in person before purchasing.I will not release the truck untill funds have been released and cleared by my bank. I prefer cash in person but will take a certifed us or canadian bank check or wire transfer. This truck is clean and very cool and unique. Please ask any questions. Thank you. http://youtu.be/yuLrnO6bZwo http://youtu.be/tzQszgX_KiI On Jul-22-12 at 05:16:38 PDT, seller added the following information: 400+ pictures of build... http://s1146.photobucket.com/albums/o529/buddyliggett/ I would like to say that after taking it to the delavan illinois cruise on last night I now have a offer of $13,000 plus a decent 92 mustang fox body that I would value somewhere between 3 and 4k. Like I said above I reserve the right to end the auction early with no sale if I have a local buyer. I would also like to say that today and tomorrow I will be addressing the radiator (cooling) and brake shoes and return spring. this is what was asked of me by that same potential buyer to do the deal. It will be taken care of by auction end. ThanksOn Jul-23-12 at 13:02:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I have been asked alot about how it drives? The only way i can answer this is by saying, it does not pull to the right or left and you can remove your hands from the wheel and not worry about wiping out. as far as is it smooth or can you feel every bump? well, it is not a 2012-13 40k new car. its a built to look cool ride not a built to drive like a lincoln. It seems word is finally getting out there that its for sale. check out the facebook link below where rides.com has posted a picture of the truck on the monday rewind. 2500 likes,700 shares,100 comments of everyone giving the thumbs up. I have posted good video and a ton of pictures. there is no hiding anything here folks. I have heard the stories of "sniper bidding" or what have you and I wont go for it. Do not bid to win then show up trying to renegotiate the price. the link.... https://www.facebook.com/#!/theridesnetwork On Jul-24-12 at 16:10:44 PDT, seller added the following information: ebay motors has selected this truck as its "catch of the day" and has wrote a very kind blog. http://hub.motors.ebay.com/collector_car I would like to say folks that yes this truck will run for the entire auction and no it will not be pulled due to local sale. Please do not hesitate to bid. Highest bid will take this 1 of a kind super cool truck. Here is another link to eBay motors fb page where you can see other peoples reactions and comments all about this beauty. https://www.facebook.com/#!/ebaymotors In the description above it says a 64 chevy frame. That is incorrect. The frame is a 65 not a 64 but the same frame none the less. Please dont hesitate to ask any questions. Thank you for viewing my listing and happy bidding!
