Body: Porsche 356A Type T2A Chassis No. 107700 Model Year 1959 Restoration was started in November 2001. Body work and paint was by Independent Body Works in Houston, Texas. It was stripped to bare metal, and repaired as needed. Paint color is Meridian, Porsche code No. 6A7. This was an optional color for 911 in model years 2000-2001. Floor pan is in good condition with no perforations, undercoating is fresh. The battery compartment was replaced by previous owner. It is non-standard and does not allow for a spare wheel in the normal position. A compact inflatable spare is provided together with a compressor. Interior upholstery was done by Autos International. Seats, door panels, and dash was done by Columbus, Texas Auto Upholstery. Instruments were overhauled by Overseas Speedometer in Austin, Texas. They forgot to fix the odometer, which does not work. Wiring to the clock has not been connected to prevent battery drain. All chrome parts were replated. Radio is a Becker Europa AM/FM completely repaired and the speakers rebuilt. Running Gear: Wheels are 5.5" wide instead of standard 4.5". Tires are Yokohama T4 P195 60 R15. Shock absorbers are KYB gas type. Break shoes and hubs are in excellent condition. All wheel cylinders and master cylinder have been rebuilt. All brake lines have been replaced. A modern fluid reservoir was installed. Brake fluid is Ate Super blue and has been flushed and refilled every two years. Drive Train: Engine Serial No. 801342, rebuilt in 2005, driven less than 3000 miles since overhaul. The engine is a 1960 Type 616/7 T5 Super 90 with a 1720cc NPR big bore piston and cylinder set. It was completely disassembled and rebuilt in 2005. Crankshaft magnafluxed and reground. All new bearings on the crank and connecting rods. The camshaft is an Elgin 280 deg. mild street cam. Cylinder heads were completely rebuilt. Carburetors are solex 40PII4. They have solid butterfly shafts instead of the split shaft style which are prone to leak air at the ends. The fuel pump was rebuilt during the engine overhaul. An auxiliary electric flow-through fuel pump was installed in 2008 to prime the float bowls after long periods of non-use. It can be run by a pushbutton the the dash. The transaxle is a model 741/2 serial No. 40054 from a 1962 356B. It was rebuilt completely with new bearings in 2001 during the body restoration. An Ansa sport exhaust is installed on the car. An OEM Porsche quiet muffler is furnished with the car. This vehicle also has a special 28 blade cooling fan. Electrical: The car has been converted to 12 volts. The voltage regulator is a new Bosch unit and the battery is a sealed cell Optima. The generator is a new large diameter 12 volt Bosch model GR15. The distributor is a Bosch VJR BR 18, completely rebuilt in 2005.
