Vehicle Detail

This is my 4th FJ40 and 5th vintage Land Cruiser. I bought her about 8 years ago in Eagle, Colorado and drove her directly to Los Angeles, CA. There she lived as my short trip driver, weekend wrench buddy, and generally helped to keep me sane in that big, empty city. Like a kid with a sandbox or Lego set, driving and wrenching on this TLC kept me alive for a good portion of my LA experience. About 6 years ago, I moved to Nashville, but kept the apartment and garage in LA where she is lives. I've come back several times a year and tried to give her some attention each time I do... but it's finally time to let her go and be with someone who can bring her to her full potential and make the most of her. It's not her... it's me With 31 inch General Grabbers, a 5,000lb WARN winch on a custom bumper (w/shovel!), Weber carb, no strangling emissions mumbo jumbo to speak of, and TLC heritage, she's ready to be transformed into a great weekend trail machine. That was my plan for her and it is a easy reality. I've taken the body down to the bare metal with chemicals, elbow grease and hard work. Then I treated the surface and applied primer to keep rust at bay. This left a some holes where the cancer was removed, but a few welds here and there will easily take care of it. In the interest of full disclosure, the removable transmission hump should be replaced and there are some temporary repairs on the rear deck. Diamond plating was added to the rear (not in photos) and while she's not going to win beauty contests, that was never the intent. If you want a rust free FJ40, it'll cost you $10k+. This one is set up so you can scratch the primer driving through the tight pines, get home and with a little sandpaper and a spray can... you are good to go again! Other work I've done includes the addition of a pair of Subaru buckets on custom framing, new points, plugs, brakes, etc. (when I bought it) and a brand new fuel pump, fuel tank and battery (just recently). The rear jump seats have been removed, as was the tire carrier... but these come with the sale and you can put them back should you choose. After sitting for a spell, she definitely needs all her fluids replaced. You might have that done here or you may want to tow/trailer her. It's up to you. I drove her from Eagle, CO to L.A. without blinking an eye because I trust the TLC heritage... but that's your call. Don't bid if you can't pay... Blah blah blah... DO BID if you want to win! RESERVE IS FAR * FAR* BELOW "BUY IT NOW." In a nutshell, I hate to see her go. But she could do more on this earth that inhabit a tiny garage in Silverlake. Whoever gets her is going to be a lucky one... or, let's be honest, just part her out for the Crazy profits that TLC parts bring. Either way... I can't look after her any longer.
