Vehicle Detail
Beautiful well maintained Mercedes 300TD touring turbo diesel wagon. Drives smooth and straight, I just had new tie rods and steering damper installed and the car has been aligned. Has the optional 3rd row seating. Lots of room in the back. Transmission shifts very good, and will be serviced with new filter and pan gasket this week, before the sale. Oil has been changed 500 miles ago, with Rotella Synthetic and a Mann filter. Along that a new valve cover gasket was installed and fuel filter has been replaced. The fan clutch is brand new. A/C is freezing cold, and blows like a storm even through the middle vents. Original lak-free R12 (freon) system. (the vacuum pods controlling the middle vents have been replaced when a replacement dashboard was installed) recent new brakes and pads in the front and rear. The previous owner (I bought it in januari of 2011) had the head and turbo replaced after the original #14 head cracked. The new head is a #22, the best one. This car starts on a dime, in any weather. And yes it gets cold in the desert in winter. All electrics work perfectly, even the original radio and the upgraded German 100 watt speakers. Lots of history in receipts. I have driven this car for nearly 8000 miles and absolutely loved every single mile. I've had many w124's with the 603 turbo motor but for sure this is the fastest smoothest and prettiest one I ever owned. Very reluctant sale, I am moving back to Europe and can not keep the car. No reserve auction. I am so confident the winning bidder will love this car like I do, that I do not require a deposit. however: ZERO OR LOW FEEDBACK BIDDERS NEED TO CONTACT ME PRIOR TO BIDDING NEAR THE END OF THE AUCTION OR YOUR BID WILL BE CANCELLED. I am moving back overseas and have no time for dreamers, time-wasters and such. This is a 25 year old car, it's not new!! For any questions or additional photo's do not hesitate to ask. On Jul-15-12 at 21:09:53 PDT, seller added the following information:The miles are REAL. Real pampered highway miles. I have a carfax available I can email to you.On Jul-17-12 at 23:39:58 PDT, seller added the following information: additional photo's of the car and what has been done to it to make it as perfect as it is now can be seen here: On Jul-21-12 at 08:30:46 PDT, seller added the following information: Today I will replace coolant expansion tank/reservoir and cap with nice new Mercedes OEM ones. Fan clutch and belt tensioner shock have already been replaced. Radiator was replaced with an OEM Behr when the engine head and turbo were replaced. With Phoenix 115 degree city driving and the A/C on the engine temperature stays nicely within range. The electric auxiliary fan comes on just before 90 degrees, I tested that by turning the A/C off... Someone test-drove the car and noticed that the cruise control does not engage. This is usually the amplifier, under the driver side kick board. These can be repaired/ re-soldered. And there is a bulb out somewhere which I can't find. All lights work, the only one I can't see/test is the 3rd brake light. I tried opening it up but I'm afraid the plastic will break. That always happens when you're selling a car so I'm not forcing it. Other than that the gentleman was very impressed of course. happy bidding you fellow W124 enthusiasts!!
