1955 PLYMOUTH BELVEDERE SUBURBAN. Actually named Suburban rather than Station Wagon. The more you look at it the more detail it has. Start with the headliner, it’s some form moulded plastic material running in one piece the full length of the car. Something I have not seen in any other vehicle and it is superb condition. Then you have incredible tail gate hinges. They look like they were built to hold up a ton of weight. Some of the other cool features are the grille, dashboard, hood ornament, the outside mirrors, the Belvedere fender script and the upholstery colour and material. Production totaled 18,488 units but how many exist todayt, likely very few. When did you see one last? The Suburban appeared in dealer showrooms new on December 22nd, 1954 with the Belvedere being the top of the line model. Power in this car comes from the ultra reliable straight six engine originally rated at 117 horsepower with the gearbox being a 3-speed column shift. It has a heater and an original AM radio, that need to be repaired. Finished in a fantastic colour scheme, Pompano Peach with the section through the window area done in a Nutmeg Brown. The interior matches with the same tones and is a mix of Vinyl and Brocade style materials. It’s really great looking. I recently replaced all fluids, replaced thermostat in radiator, all electrical and horn working. As well as rebuilt the carburetor and replaced the fuel pump. People always stop to talk about this car, fun to drive
