This 1950 Bentley MkVI sedan is being sold as a rolling chasis- engine - drive train etc. as shown.. as the body is unsalvageable. If you have thought of building a custom Bentley, this could be a great deal. Or if you have a Bentley with a rotted out body. BACKGROUND Not long ago, this car started with the touch of the button, drove, shifted, stopped great and was in excellent shape until it went to the paint shop for some touch up painting, caught fire and the interior and parts of the exterior were destroyed. The fuel system (tank /pump/carbs etc), cooling (radiator and water pump), electrical (generator) and braking systems all worked fine up to this point and the car was in wonderful cosmetic condition. As far as I know, all of these parts are still good. Tires are used but in good shape. In excellent running condition prior to the fire, the engine did not overheat, started perfectly each time and had (has) great compression/ oil pressure. I had two new manifolds shipped from England at a cost of well over $1000 with shipping. The old Bentley manifolds get brittle as glass over time and crack badly. It is even hard to get a used one off a car without breaking it. These new manifolds will last for many years. (see old pic of car) PRESENTLY The fuel pump, gas tank, engine, transmission, running gear etc should still all be in excellent condition. Much of the paint was charred or burned and the interior badly, burned (gutted) so I had the car primed. Basically it depressed me looking at it. The primer makes it look better, seals the burned area and cuts down on acrid smell. The wiring was charred or showed damage from the fire so no coil, distributor wiring or other wiring to start the engine. (O.K. we started to wire the coil to the distributor etc.) When connected to a battery, the motor turns over but needs gas and spark to run. (see current pics of car) FUTURE This would be a good project to rebody with a custom body or a ground up restoration using another good body but bad drive train. (See example of rebodied car). It will need a new body with firewall parts and all interior parts. Not sure if title will be salvage or clear. It is clear right now. The grill shell and grill have been replated but is not quite show condition due to slight brassing (see photo) around mascot where the plater apparently buffed the finish too much or? Hard to notice and a really NICE looking radiator surround...and expensive to plate. I would be willing to sell body parts on this car....trunk, hood, acess door, license holder or any small surviving parts that you might need such as latches etc. To rebuild an engine costs a fortune and this is drive train is offered at a reasonable price. (see futuristic pics of car) I have a ton of other Bentley parts that I can list if you are iterested. Wheels, generator, Bijour oiler, plenum,, refinished wood, radio, jack, large tools. Parts from one wrecked car and one burned car. Door handles, antennae, mirrors, bumpers. I also have a complete refinished beautiful leather interior. Door panels, front and rear seats, visors, back ashtrays and rear quarter panels, side vertical trim, and extra hide or at least part of one. Gearshift cover and also the leather bound carpeting complete. The finished foot rests also. I also have the refinished wood that went witht the above upholstery. This is finished in Tung (sp) oil and not laquer as laquer will dry and then cheque badly. This is well seasoned. Basically a complete Bentey MkVI interior in like new condition.
