Vehicle Detail

Auction is for the Holy Grail of AMC muscle cars - the 1969 AMC AMX, 390, close ratio T10 4 speed, in Big Bad Green. Only 284 1969 AMXs came in Big Bad Green; some were equipped with the 290 or 343 V8 and/or auto trans. This is one of the few Big Bad Green 69's with the 390 and close ratio 4 speed. I'd like to keep the car, but I just bought another project and this one got booted out of the garage. Instead of keeping it outside, I've decided to sell it. The car is very reasonably priced; I'm losing a few thousand $ at the reserve price. The VIN is A9M397X227XXX. It decodes as AMC (A); 1969 (9); 4 sp manual (M); AMX (3); 2 door hardtop (9); 7 (AMX); 390 (X). 2 is the plant of manufacture and 227XXX is the production sequence number. The original door tag is still attached; see pictures. This is documentation of the Big Bad Green paint. You can see remants of the Go Pack stripes on the cowl. The car is equipped with power steering, power disk brakes, and a 3.15 Twin Grip rear, so it appears to be an original Go Pack car. The car was originally equipped with Saddle Leather interior (see door tag for verification) but someone swapped in a black dash and door panels. The gauge cluster cover and the steering column are still Saddle. The interior is not in great condition; I would plan to replace much of what you see. The seats are fine, but will need to be recovered. The windows are off the tracks; not uncommon for AMCs of this vintage and not a very difficult fix. The body will need some work - - just like most AMXs, it will need lower quarter patches installed (available via aftermarket). The hood is solid, but crunched somewhat in the front (not a difficult fix). The car comes with a spare hood that also has some damage, but the skin should be useable (the inner structure of the spare hood has rust issues). The inner rockers are rusted, but the car comes with a complete inner/outer rocker for each side that was cut from a California car. The fender troughs appear to be rusted; not uncommon and not a difficult fix. The 4 speed hump is present and has not been hacked at all. The trunk will need a patch; rusted through in one spot. The floors are rusted through behind the seats. The deck lid is very nice. The windshield is cracked, but you can buy a new replacement for about $200. The car is sold without an engine but comes with a transmission (close ratio T10, believed to be original), crossmember, radiator, and driveshaft. I do have a bare 401 block and a pair of 291C heads or a complete 401 (comes with ported 090 dogleg heads done by Indy) that I can sell but this is a separate transaction and not included in the auction price. Please e mail for details. Georgia does not require titles on cars of this vintage, so it is sold with a bill of sale. Delivery available within 100 miles for $1 per loaded mile. $200 due within 72 hours of auction close; PayPal is fine. Balance due within 7 days of auction close - cash, money order, or wire transfer. Please ask any questions and I will do my best to answer. You are also welcome to come see the car in person.
