Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a nice looking and great driving Triumph TR-6. This car is purported to be a numbers matching car. I have done my research online and believe it to be so but you would need to do your own research to ensure that is the case. The vin / commission number is CC 82138 U, engine number is CC 81991 UE, body tag numbers are 74981 CC and 03607 C, paint code is number 23 " Sienna" and the trim number is 33 " New Tan ". The 1972 year model was the last year for the factory wire wheel option and really sets the car apart from most other TR-6 cars out there. The wire wheels are 72 spoke and feel great on the road. The car has Michelin "Red Line" tires on all four corners. The previous owner who had owned the car for the last 11 years did much work including: Upgrading the carburetors to the SU "HS6" type at a cost of $1054.70 installed and tuned, Pertronix ignition system, external oil cooler with stainless steel lines and spin on oil filter, replaced the radiator and all associated hoses of the Kevlar type, installed fan shroud, installed 13 blade fan blade, new clutch, pressure plate, throw out bearing, new clutch slave cylinder, "U" joints replaced, new master cylinder, new slave cylinder, new rear brake shoes, new alternator, new battery, new front spoiler and installed a new AM FM CD player. He did many other items like replacing switches, gaskets, seals and other small things. The car runs out very strong and I just completed a 194 mile round trip in the car and had no issues driving at highway speeds and no issues with over heating due in no small part to all the upgrades. The car handles very nice on the road. The new carbs have excellent throttle response and I only run premium gas in the car. The car shifts up and down through all gears with no binding or grinding. The car sits evenly and squarely on the ground and has non of the dreaded TR-6 rear "squatting" issues All gauges including the tachometer, speedometer, temp gauge, gas gauge, oil pressure gauge, amps gauge are working. All front / rear running lights work, all front / rear turn signals work, brake lights work, back up lights work, licence plate light works, trunk light works, interior courtesy light works, head lights work high / low beam, horn works, fan motor works, wipers work and dash gauge lights work. The car starts right up at the touch of the key. The car does not smoke nor does the engine have any noises, ticks, rattles and does not shake about. I just replaced the plugs and points and will have the oil changed prior to auctions end. The exhaust sounds great and "appears to be newer and is in very good condition". The interior is in good serviceable / driving quality condition. The exterior looks good for a 10 footer as the paint appears to me to be original and I find no signs of repainting of the car ( not an expert just my opinion ). There is some fading of the paint in spots so lets call in "driver quality". The rocker panels inner / otter look very solid as well as the floor boards and trunk floor ( see photos ).The bumpers are driver quality with some pitting / scatches. The top is new and has only been up a few times and never in the rain. The car does have a wire wheel spare but needs to have the inner tube repaired / replaced. The car does have a jack ( not original type ) and a "knock Off" hammer. Now I have only owned the car a short time and love it very much but family issues force sale. I know how hard it is to purchase a car online so please ask any and all questions you have prior to bidding or if you can come see and drive the car for yourself ( I really encourage you to do so ) as I want the winning bidder to be satisfied with the car when it arrives. If you need to have the car shipped to your location you can get a free online quote from Able Auto Transport at: http://www.ableautotransport.com/ . Please know that listing this car on E-bay is not cheap so you are bidding to purchase the car and must have funds available at auctions end.On Jun-24-12 at 11:03:15 PDT, seller added the following information: I went out today for a drive in the car prior to going into work and noticed a sound coming from the area on the transmission bell housing. The sound was only in the low gears and had no sound when in 4th gear. I took the car on the highway to check it out further and had no issues with the cars performance what so ever. The car shifted up and down through all gears with no binding or grinding. I called a friend and he thinks it is a dry throw out bearing and is really nothing to worry about. The throw out bearing was replaced by the prior owner so it could be just that. Again the sound is only in the low gears and not in 4th and does no hinder the cars performance but wanted to make sure I posted the info so all bidders where informed. Also, I stated in the auction all lights are working and they are but the headlight switch on the steering wheel (which was replaced by prior owner) does not work so the headlights / running lights are turned on by a switch under the dash (easy fix). Again, I want everyone to know what I know about the as I have only had it a short time. I have a clear signed and notarized title from prior owner in my hand. On Jun-25-12 at 11:58:18 PDT, seller added the following information: Hello All, I have had many questions about the car and wanted to add a few more notes. I have find no evidence of rust or rust repairs around the front headlights, trunk edges, fender wells, lower rocker panels or around the area / seams that are directly behind the top ( not an expert just what I see / know ). All panel fit looks very good ( see photos ) and door, hood and trunk open and close easily. All side and top panels are in what I would call near perfect condition / free of dents. The paint / shine you see in the photos has not been waxed so it should look much better when you do so but again this is what I would call driver quality and it does have some fading and a few scratches so lets call it a 10 footer or better. I have been asked many times what my " Buy It Now' price is and I really don't have one in mind but I'm open to offers as long as we use E-bays prescribed methods of closing the auction early. Also, I have been asked how did I determine if the car is numbers matching. I did so using many online search engines but the most helpful was the Heritage Motor Center based in England. They have a very large data base and forums to find what you need. This is also where you would order your Heritage Certificate showing that the car truly is numbers match ( and when you get it the value of the car will sky rocket - takes about 3 to 5 weeks from time of order ). Please let me know if you need anymore info as I truly want the buyer to be happy when the car arrives so I'm adding more info as questions arise.
