This is a well running bus that we purchased on ebay in good running and physical condition nine years ago. It was from an owner in Texas and we had it professionally shipped to us in Oregon. According to the previous seller it was only owned by one person in Texas before him and it had been stored for some time before he purchased it and replaced the engine with a newer bus engine (1972 or 74) and repainted everything in the original Westfalia white used in 1967. He said he restored the interior somewhat but it was already in good shape when he got it. However many of the Westfalia accesories (ie; tent, fold up tables,curtains) had been removed I assume to make more room or from wear over time. Basically we have only recently re-upholsterd all the original seats and some panels with pink vinyl and occasional large 60's daisies. The carpet was also replaced with a lepoard print. Everything has been done by professional car restorers, not DIY. Also a CD player with amplifier, multiple separate speakers and large subwoofer was professionally installed. The speakers are all boxed as separates not in wall panels or cabinets. None of the modifications or installations have damaged or altered the integrity of the dash or any other original interior structure. The original but re-upolstered back seat easily folds down into a large bed. The original interior lighting, louvered windows, sliding windows, door hardware, storage cabinets, steering wheel, venting system, wipers, headlights, blinkers, all electrics etc. are functional and appear to have expected moderate wear. The horn has recently become a bit anemic and doesn't work at times but we are not pusuing this right now. This bus has been well maintained by us all around. Not much has had to be repaired. A brake drum had seized up and was replaced as was the fuel tank when it was leaking and all fuel lines. We don't smoke and had detected no traces of smoke from the previous owner. We seldom drive it in the winter and keep it in a carport. We drive it mainly in summertime and it gets great mileage. This is a piece of history that has been updated into a stylish classic. It is beautiful on the inside and out and you will never see another like it. If you are a stalwart vehicle purist you can easly change the hair and makeup and search out all those little extras to make it a pure Westfalia again. She is ready to roll. I had listed this bus on ebay not too long ago but took it down for sentimental reasons. I recieved many messages since and have decided to relist with a little higher reserve to ease the nostalgic sting so to speak. I have changed some of the pictures so the hard core bus people can see what a structural gem it is. There appears to be only the occasional superficial dusting of rust on the understructure and absolutely none on interior metalic structures under carpet and wall liners. This bus wasn't rescued from a field and bondoed together to make it appear clean. From what I have seen on the bus market this level of structural soundness is a rare find for such an old bus. It must have truly been stored inside for years before it was sold to me. If you want a close up picture of a certain thing or structure let me know and I will try to provide.
