Vehicle Detail

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE NO RESERVE!! I am offering up my outstanding example of a 1974 Jensen-Healey Mark II to the highest bidder. If you're looking for a Jensen-Healey, you probably know quite a bit about these cars so I won't waste a lot of time telling you about the history or giving you production numbers. I was having a hard time deciding how to write this ad so I decided I would just go with bullet points to tell you everything you need to know about the car and myself - good and bad - and then just answer any questions you might have. I'll start out by saying that you probably would have a very difficult time finding a better restored JH for sale. The Lotus 907 Twin Cam 4-cylinder 16 valve motor pulls and sounds great! It feels like a rocket ship and sounds like an old Ferrari. · I cannot find a single speck of rust on this car. Jensen's are notorious for rust issues, but this one is RUST FREE! I believe the car has been in the south the majority of its life which explains the lack of rust. I actually bought it from an individual in my own neighborhood so I know it's been in Texas for the last few years. · This car has been mechanically perfect for me. It fires up and runs great every time my wife and I take it out. Sitting does not drain the battery or cause any problems. · This car has been converted to dual side draft twin throat Dellorto Carbs! This is the best mod you can do to a Jensen Healey and would cost you over $2500 - if you can find a set. Some of the European model Jensens came with these. They put out more power and are MUCH smoother. You could never rebuild the US Stromberg carbs to perform anywhere close to these discontinued Italian beauties. · This car has a brand new exhaust system and sounds GREAT! · Brand new soft top in perfect condition! · New Perelli tires on the original rims which are in great shape. · The steering is tight and responsive. It corners great (as you would expect) but without any of the rattles and play that sometimes come with British sports cars. My visual inspection would indicate that the previous owner replaced all the wear items in the suspension and steering. · All of the chrome and bright work on this car is in like new condition. · The paint is recent and of very high quality. Black is hard to do well, but this finish is glossy and smooth. There are a couple scratches that have been touched up but I had the car for weeks before I even noticed them. · Crane Cams Fireball XR3000 Ignition System. · Comes with the original HARD TOP in like new condition. · New Tonneau cover that snaps into place. · Convertible softtop cover is perfect. · All of the original Smiths gauges work perfectly with the exception of the fuel gauge. This a probably the most common problem on Jensen Healeys. 9 Times out of 10 it is the tank sending unit. It's a breeze to remove, but you just can't find a replacement. There is a company in Arizona that will refurbish your unit for you - and it doesn't even cost that much - but you won't be able to drive the car for a week or so while it's being done. · The engine compartment is clean and perfectly sorted. The battery is new. · The undercarriage of this car is fantastic. Take a look at the pictures. · The seats and carpet are all new. The dash and console look great. T · Unlike most British sports cars from this era, if you're a big guy you can still fit in this one. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 250 and I fit in the car great and my line of sight is through the middle of the windscreen, not the cross pillar like when I'm in an MGB or TR6. · This car does not run hot. The hoses all look new and even when it's 95 degrees here in Houston the car runs at normal temps. · The blowers and heater work great (rare for these guys). · I know this is hard to believe, but I don't think this car leaks a drop of fluid! There isn't anything on the garage floor where we keep it. That's nearly impossible to believe for a 70's British car so it can't last forever, but for now - dry! · Car is inspected and registered here in Texas. · Odometer shows 1185. It works perfectly, but I honestly have no idea if it's 1185 or 101, 185 or something else. The car looks good enough to be 1185 and certainly doesn't look like it could be over 100K, but the title (as do all older cars in Texas) will read EXEMPT. My guess is that the car was restored 1185 ago and the odometer was reset. Negatives (there aren't many, even considering it's a 40 year old car): · The previously mentioned fuel gauge. This is probably the only issue on the car that I would consider fixing, especially if you live in the north and are going to have the car off the road for a few weeks anyway this winter. · The clock doesn't work. · There is a crack in the windscreen. It's not in your line of sight - it's actually in the lower left hand corner (in Texas it's actually covered by the inspection and registration stickers). You can get a new windscreen easy enough if you want one, but to be honest cracked windshields drive me crazy but I don't notice the crack at all. · The original radio does not seem to power on. I haven't looked at it because I'm just not a radio guy and when you're driving a twin-cam convertible why would you want the radio anyway? Everything is there, it just doesn't seem to turn on. Odds and Ends: · I am an individual and a car guy. I'm not a dealer, I don't sell cars for money (if I did, I'd have the worst record ever:-). I used to collect cars, but my wife and I only have a 3 car garage in our current home and we have 4 cars. With summer coming up, making my wife park outside seems a little cruel. · We LOVE this car. It's in phenomenal condition and an absolute blast to drive. If we had a 4 car garage the Jensen would not be for sale. · I have a free and clear Texas title in hand. · The car is in Southeast Houston (Clear Lake Area near NASA). If you want to ship it or whatever, there is no huge rush to get it out. It can stay in our garage as long as needed (within reason). If you want to come see the car that's great. · If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me or send me your phone number and I'll give you a call. I'm happy to answer any questions or chat about the car anytime. · I'll work with the buyer to make everything convenient and easy. I'll take it to a shipper, etc. As far as payment goes, just about anything is fine but I'll make sure the funds clear before I release the car. I would prefer a deposit via PayPal if it's going to be more than a few days for full payment. I'll eat the PayPal fee for the deposit (let's say $500 deposit), but if you want to pay the full amount via PayPal I'd like the fee added to the amount. I don't mind using PayPal, but on large sums they hit you for a significant amount. · I don't have a Buy It Now price. If you want to throw a number at me feel free, but I'm probably just going to let the auction run its course unless you knock my socks off. I've watched Jensen Healeys run through ebay for the last few weeks now. There was one car that was nice that sold for $9500. Ours is a better car, but their ad was spectacular and they had professional photos with a model (it made me want to buy it). There have also been a lot of so-so cars that bring a few grand. I'm curious to see how this one does. I would guess that this is the best one available currently anywhere, but I'm selling it at NO RESERVE so we'll see. I always prefer no reserve auctions because if you have a reserve you're not "auctioning" the car, simply advertising it. A few thousand one way or the other isn't going to make or break me so bid away and we'll see how it shakes out. GOOD LUCK!!!
