Vehicle Detail
I took this Falcon to the All-Ford Carlisle Meet in Carlisle, PA this past weekend. Of the 125+ cars for-sale in the car corral, this old wagon drew the biggest crowds. Dozens of people said they'd love to buy it, but they just didn't have the cash. A couple guys there said THEY'D buy it if they could sell their cars during the weekend. There was one older guy who had a 1964 Falcon Sedan Delivery who told me I wasn't asking nearly enough money for it. I agreed, but I told him I brought it there to sell, not to tease people. Despite that, horrible weather and the threat of tornados kept the crowds away for most of the weekend. So, we're going to give it one more try here on Ebay. This wagon's reserve is priced to move. The winning bidder will win the car, a locking California Car Cover designed specifically for THIS car, a retro metal Falcon cooler and a custom-made 8' surfboard sign for car shows. Summer begins in less than 3 weeks. This Falcon can be in YOUR driveway in 2 weeks. I've got about $60k invested in this car. It can be YOURS for a fraction of MY investment. Up for auction is this absolutely gorgeous 1964 Ford Falcon “Deluxe” Station Wagon. This is the “Deluxe” model which sports the original stainless steel package including original mint roof rack. It took 3 years to complete. The receipts (that I can find) total nearly 4 times the RESERVE price! I bought this car in 2003 from the original owner in AZ…making me the car’s 2nd owner. The car was…and still is…completely rust-free. You can stick a magnet anywhere on this car and it’ll stay there forever. It has NEVER seen rain or snow…as it has always been garaged here in Massachusetts 8 out of 12 months each year. The only water it sees is when I give it a bath. That’s it. Everything under the hood is new as of 2009 (with less than 1500 miles on it!)...everything...from the oil pan to the twin air cleaners and from the electric-fan-assisted three row radiator to the master cylinder…and everything in between. The odometer on the car reads 65098, although the car/motor has only 1200-1500 miles on it since the restoration. The entire front end (steering and disc brakes) was professionally re-done...NOT with old Granada or Monarch parts...but with NEW Summit or Mustangs Unlimited parts/kits. As a result of the new front-end, this car drives (and brakes) like new! With what is under the hood, this car can hold its own against anything on the road. The little old lady from Pasadena would be jealous! It has a really nice throaty sound when idling. I’ve driven this car on the highway at 70 mph with one finger on the wheel and it drives super straight and runs ice-cold…thanks to the 3-row radiator and electric fan. The paint is the correct Ford “Prairie Bronze”, which was quite rare for this model with the Wimbledon White roof. The body is absolutely straight as an arrow. I just noticed a tiny paint chip under the "N" on the tailgate a few days ago. * Please note that the dash-mounted clock seen in the photos is not included in the auction. I borrowed it from my brother’s 1966 Mustang. * Please note that the car has a white Moon Eyes slotted steering wheel...and not the gold metal flake steering wheel which appears in a couple of the photos taken last summer. The door tag reads as follows: Body - 71B Color P Trim 66 Date 26E DSO 51 (San Jose, CA) Axle 4 Transmission 3 # 4R24F170325 Here is a partial list of NEW parts in the car. Most of the parts are from Summit, Mustangs Unlimited and Ford Racing: (I’m just throwing in some random prices here and there so you can see what certain parts of the restoration cost. I have 80-85% of the receipts.) * 5.0L FORD Racing Long Block CRATE MOTOR ($4147.97) * Dual 500cfm Edelbrock Performer carburetors. People absolutely love it. There’s nothing better than cruising down the coastline with the Beach Boys playing in the CD player! It’s a phenomenal car that took a l-o-n-g time to restore. I’ve lost sleep just thinking about parting with it, but my growing family requires me to buy a bigger house, so something’s gotta go. I just hope it goes to a good home and to someone who will have a blast with it. Please…only serious bidders. There’s $10k+ worth of new parts…just under the hood. Here’s a cool story for you. James Caan and Adam Sandler filmed a movie here on Cape Cod last summer. They used to go to a restaurant I frequented quite a bit. According to some of the staff at the restaurant, Adam Sandler LOVED this car…as I took it to this restaurant a couple of times during the summer. I never did see Adam Sandler, but, apparently, he saw my Falcon and fell in love with it. I wish I knew THEN that I was going to sell it! It would be cool knowing Adam Sandler is driving around in a car I built. I am advertising the Falcon locally (and on other websites), so I reserve the right to end the auction early. This car is being sold “where-is” and “as-is”…with no warranties expressed or implied. I will be happy to cooperate with shipping the vehicle, although shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I encourage serious bidders to come look at it and even go for a ride in it. You won’t be disappointed. Summer is almost here and nothing will make your summer better than THIS car! Good luck to all bidders! On Jun-05-12 at 21:31:30 PDT, seller added the following information: This Falcon wagon was on EBAY last week when a bidder from Minnesota hit the reserve in the last hour of the auction. I thought it was sold until the "winning bidder" contacted me right after the auction...obviously in a panic...stating that he couldn't afford the car. He said he was just trying to help "bump up" the bidding. Please don't try to help "bump up" the bidding. This is an amazing car. Bid on it only if you want to win it. The winning bidder will be very very happy.
