1962 Buick Skylark Convertible 1st Production SKYLARK CONVERTIBLE & 1962 Car of the Year ! The DAFFODIL Festival & PARADE CAR All rebuilt, new paint, actual low mileage & low owership 50 Year Old Classic Sport Convertible. V8 / AT / PS / PB Wire Wheel Covers, Independant Suspension & rare Dash Clock Option This 1962 Buick Sylark is a rare find. It has been kept by one owner for the last 30+ years. It has always been garaged and mantained as a dependable driver vehicle for the annual Payallup Daffodil Festival & Parade. The V8 engine & transmission were fully rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago. It also has a new battery, recent brakes, muffler & exhaust pipes. This car is extremely solid and is not a rust vehicle. It was originally produced and sold in CA, later coming to WA where it has always been garaged since and used as parade vehicle. It has very solid floor pans, trunk pans, etc. , lots of photos taken and more available upon request. The body is solid metal and this car has never been wrecked. It was professionally repainted last year, using expensive PPG Red paints. The convertible top looks great, but is older and original with a minor tape repair on the drivers side fold, along with needing a new plastic rear window. Window inserts can be purchased separatley and do zip into the top area, or plan on a new top which are very inexpensive for this model. This classic car was always kept for sunny days with the top down. The car has an older professional & quality restoration on the interior seats and trim and carpets. ** I am holding the Clear WA Title of ownership for this car. **This car is equipped with front seat belts which were only dealer added in 1962. The factory made bolt holes for them but did not install them. I also have several other sets of new seat belts which have not yet been put into the back seat of the car. A new Buick rubber trunk molding kit snaps into groove around trunk and is still new in the package to be included with this car too. OPTIONS & TRIM: This car is equipped with the powerfull 210 V8 which produced 190 HP in this light vehicle with independant suspension. It is equipped with the factory 4 barrel carb and is 11:1 compression. It also has the optional Dual-Path Turbine Automatic transmission. It starts right up, drives and runs smooth with no leaks or smoke...this engine purrs. Thie car is loaded having both Power Brakes and Power Steering options. This makes the car fun and easy to drive. This car is also equipped with the rare option Dash Clock. Car has the original & rare spoke wire hubcaps & newer tires. Original 86,888 miles on car. Production Identification o The 1962 Buick Skylark’s production details: the first digit of the VIN identifies the Skylark with a “3.” The second digit, an “I,” identifies the Skylark as a 1962 model. The third number identifies the assembly plant where the vehicle was manufactured, with a “2” means the Skylark was built in South Gate, California. The remaining six digits are the production numbers starting at 501001 for 1962 Skylarks. Production o In all, 154,467 Buick Specials and Skylarks were sold in 1962. The Skylark two-door coupe was the most popular with 34,060 units sold. Nearly 9,000 Skylark convertibles were produced. ** The Skylark was introduced as a convertible option mid 1962.
