Vehicle Detail
This is a 1970 Dodge Coronet 500 CONVERTIBLE ! There were only 924 of these ever built ! I have a letter from the Chrysler Historical Foundation that confirms this. It was built in the St. Louis assembly plant. I bought this in August 1980 in Nebraska with less than 100,000 miles on it. It now has 133k on it. I starts and runs smoothly and drives , but as it is a project car , it should not be driven until completely looked over by a licensed mechanic ! It is in need of a COMPLETE RESTORATION, but I do not have the time or funding to complete this project. It has been sitting for over 20 years now. We stopped using it only after the convertible top was ruined by a hail storm. The motor for the convertible top runs well , but one of the hoses broke and now leaks fluid.. I have included a hose kit from another year Dodge that may work to replace the bad hose. The car has a glass back window. I have the trim piece that is missing in the pictures of the right side , below the door. I have the "boot" that covers the top once it is down , but it is really in bad shape. Please look all the pictures over very carefully ! The front seat upholstery under the covers are quite torn up , as well as the rear seat upholstery. Like I stated , it needs a COMPLETE RESTORATION, but I have seen restored Coronet Convertibles selling for $50k and higher. The left door and right front fender have been replaced and there is rust or damage on some of the panels. It has a 383 cu. in. engine with a 2 barrel carburetor that starts and runs very well. It has a TorqueFlite automatic transmission that for sure operates in drive and reverse, but I have not taken it out on the road to see how well it shifts. I still have the engine that was in the car when I bought it ( not sure if it was the original engine or not ) , but it spun a bearing and I put the current engine in about 25 years ago. That first engine sat out in a field for many years, so it may be salvageable by a machine shop , but I am not sure. I will include it in the winning price. It has the original factory air conditioning . I will require a $500 deposit by PayPal within 72 hours of the end of listing. Balance of payment due when vehicle is picked up by certified cashiers check from a major American bank ( subject to my bank checking the availability of the funds ), or cash. Shipping of this vehicle is the responsibility of the buyer. So we have listed it on ebay....yes, I'm a little sad." She is crying right now as I am listing it ! Hope it gets to a better home ! :)On May-28-12 at 10:25:17 PDT, seller added the following information: Contact me for more photos and a short video.
