Vehicle Detail
B's Killer Bees is proud to offer one hell of a Dodge four by four project and perhaps one of the rarest of all Dodge trucks...being offered at NO RESERVE. It is a 1978 Ramcharger Special Edition...an SE that was ordered by a Georgia Dodge dealership, Duluth Dodge, to use as a demo vehicle. They ordered the truck with the 440 option, 727 automatic trans, Air conditioning, tilt steering wheel, cruise control and tachometer. I doubt too many of these were ordered that way. After years of service at the dealership the truck was sold to one of the Chrysler technicians. He who owned the truck for more than 20 years. He collected a number of New Old Stock parts for the truck, had the truck repainted and had hopes of finishing it....but never did. I recently purchased the truck and parts from him and I am the third owner. As far as outer sheet metal is concerned the truck is in pretty good condition with minor exterior rust. There is one small hole to the left fender. I would probably fix that hole rather than replace the fender. There is also one small hole to the rocker / left quarter....again very minor. There is one area of the roof on the passenger side where it meets with the windshield frame that will need to be patched...again pretty minor. There is also a couple of spots of surface rust here and there....NO DENTS. The right front fender was replaced with a NOS fender at some point. The truck will need front floor pans. The driver side is mostly gone and the passenger side could get by with patches though it would be best to replace the whole pan. The trim for the truck is in good to excellent condition and includes everything that is pictured. It is missing one fender spear and one of the front lower fender mouldings...this is the one that surrounds the front side marker. The grill is perfectly straight...the nicest you will find aside from an NOS one in the box. The original Ramcharger emblems are in good shape though they need to be repainted. I believe that the bumpers are not correct. The drivetrain appears to be in great shape. The 440 and 727 were rebuilt at 120k by Duluth Dodge technicians...the truck has 151k on the odometer. The motors runs very strong...doesn't leak a drop of anything or smoke at all! The Carter Thermoquad was also rebuilt when the engine and trans were built and appears to function like new...the truck idles good and accelerates with no problems. I have not driven the truck very far though the 727 shifts as it should and the four wheel drive appears to function fine. The truck definitely needs brakes and replacement of the 1984 dated mopar wires, plugs etc...needs a general tune-up and fluid change. The original valve covers are absent and were replaced with Direct Connection ones...these have some moderate rust and finish loss. The original air cleaner is also absent...replaced with an aftermarket chrome one. The truck will need an exhaust system...a spare set of big block manifolds are included. The original interior is intact but needs to be completely restored. The front seats need covers...foam seems fine. The rear seat is presentable. The dash pad and glove box door are repairable. The dash cluster is decent. The tachometer is in need or repair though has not been messed with. The tilt column works fine. The cruise has not been tested though I would imagine that it probably works. The front door panels were removed and included...they could be upgraded. The air conditioning actually functions though the low pressure switch is kicking the compressor on and off this is likely due to low refrigerant....the clutch appears to be ok. The truck has aftermarket chrome wheels and pretty nice Michelin tires on it. There is a fifth for a spare. The tires have a couple of dry spots on the tread that do not look like a problem...I'd drive on them without worry. Included are a set of 5 wagon wheels...not sure if these were factory or not? The underside of the truck is very nice. I doubt that this truck has spent much time offroad. Bottom line____If you are looking for a cool and unusual 4 by 4 project this is the One to start with. The truck will be sold with a Bill of sale and transferable clean Georgia title. Deposit of $500 withing 48 hours of auction closing is required. Payment of balance (cash) and pick-up is required within two weeks. Please don't hesitate to call with any questions....Kurt (706) 296-3615 Thanx and good luck! NO RESERVE!!!
