Vehicle Detail
Have you ever seen one of these before? This is a unique opportunity to own a very rare vehicle. What would you do with it -- rat rod, food truck, motorhome, traveling crafts fair rig, or maybe even a mobile bookstore? The possibilities are only limited by your imagination, skills and pocketbook. Needs restoration for sure, but it's all there and all original. This truck was originally used as a Pierce County Library bookmobile (state of Washington), and the faint lettering is still visible. The truck runs, drives and stops. Engine is the original six-cylinder stovebolt and the transmission is a four-speed. Electrical is 12 volt, set up for generator and shore power; 110 and 12 volt interior lights. There is a generator compartment, but no generator present. The body is made by Gerstenslager. Dimensions are 25' bumper to bumper, 13'8" wheel base, 9'6" high. Six 8.25 tires hold air. Most of the bookshelves remain, though there is some water damage. There are two check-out counters, stools still in place and a coat closet. Two side doors with swing-out steps. Three opening skylights and ample headroom. Original overhead light fixtures. Mild to fairly significant rust on various parts of the body -- side panels would probably need replacement, but are flat so would be easier. Clear Washington title and collector vehicle plates. The truck is driveable, but to be roadworthy for any distance it would need rubber brakelines replaced, old gas drained and replaced, running lights made functional, and ??? The battery is also nearly dead; if you want to see it start it up, bring a fresh battery with you. It is currently in a storage facility near Seattle. Truck is sold as-is, with no guarantees as to condition. Buyer must remove from storage facility by May 31st, or take over storage fees. Buyer must make own arrangements for shipping, if desired. Email with questions and to make arrangements to see.
