This 1979 Super Beetle Convertible is in excellent running condition. The engine is strong and the transmission shifts smoothly. Recent service by a local VW Specialist includes new points, plugs, distributor cap, rotor, ignition wires, and valve cover gaskets. He adjusted the valves, breaks, timing, and the fuel mixture of the Bosch Fuel Injection system. All vacuum hoses were tightened or replaced. Since then, I have not observed any leaks from the engine or transmission. I also replaced the wiper motor, blower motor, flasher relay, shift linkage and stock shifter, and ECM. As soon as I bought it, I had the steering rack replaced, front end aligned, and bought new tires. Then it spent some time in a Phoenix upholstery shop getting the custom made Red and White interior. They did a stunning job and the upholstery is a definite WOW factor. The carpets are clean and in good condition. The paint is glossy, but it does have a few chips and door dings. The paint job was before my ownership. The white vinyl top has no tears or holes, operates (manually) as it should, and fits snugly. The boot is also in very good condition and fits well. The cargo bay (under the hood) is not so pretty and could use a new carpet set. You might call this car a "restomod" because I did add a cup holder to the console! The Odometer reads 336xx miles, but this is a replacement unit which I purchased a at local used VW parts store. This Bug gets attention wherever it goes and gets "thumbs up" from passers by at the shopping centers and gas stations. It won 3rd place in class - 2010, and 1st place in class -2012 at the Bugorama shows in Phoenix, These are not a judged concurs but a voting of the "Best of" by the other entrants of the show.
