Vehicle Detail

Outstanding, reliable driver. Put 30,000 miles on it in the last 3 years. Been to Yellowstone (twice), North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Wisconsin, in addition to being driven daily around Kansas City. Sorted, tuned, and ready to go. Rebuilt mechanicals, .030 over 360, NOM, balanced, 9.0-1 forged pistons, comp 250 Xtreme cam, Performer intake, Holley 670, MSD, new radiator, etc. Rebuilt trans, 12" low-stall converter, 3.55 gears, 33x10.50 All Terrain T/A's, transfer case skid plate, new brakes (rotors, drums, lines, master cylinder, the works.) Completely rebuilt front suspension and steering (new gear, tie rods, wheel bearings, steering stabilizer, etc.) If it makes the truck go, stop, or steer, it was made at least as good as new. Even the little things are done, like the bearings in the steering column and the turn signal switch, so it feels right when you drive. Drives much better than a stock truck, more power, more responsive, better mileage. Even ran well in the mountains, and it has been to 11,000 feet. It's still a 1974 4wd truck, so don't expect it to drive and handle like a new Mercedes, but if you've driven other TD's, Ramchargers, or Scouts, you'll like the way this one drives. The gas gauge works as do the other gauges. Speedometer re-geared to match the tires. All lights new (even the little lights inside the dash), the headlights are Xtravisions on relays (very nice) and the KC DayLights will burn holes in the darkness. About the only thing with a mind of it's own is the aftermarket cruise control, which seems to work rarely but not for long. CB Radio with weather band and outside PA (for childish fun) and a 4 speaker stereo with a USB port. Comes with owners manual, parts manual, and service manual. Repainted with urethane in original B-5 blue. The "Macho Package" look is not original - I just liked it. The lower body black is bedliner, the hood is semi-gloss. One fender replaced with new due to a dent, and the rocker panels, front lower quarter, area above the wheelwells, and lower rear quarter were replaced with new patch panels both sides to repair and prevent rust. New body urethane body mounts all around, which made a huge improvement in how it feels to drive it. Underside was thoroughly cleaned, treated, and painted with bedliner. Both tops. The soft-top is in great shape, as is the attaching hardware and bows. Because this is a 74, the only year with the cut-down door, there is a gap when the top is up between the window and the soft-top. On the other hand, when the top is down, it is much cleaner looking with no door frame. The metal top is in marginal condition, but does match the door window, as the "door frame" piece was welded into the top on 74's. Looks OK on the truck, but has some rusty spots inside. If I was going to keep it, I'd probably never put the hardtop on again. It's way more fun with the soft-top or with the top down or off. That, and the metal top must weight 350 pounds, easy. So that "cut-down door" thing is clear - the 75-80 removable top TD's and Ramchargers have a door frame around the window, the 74 did not. So it looks like a "real convertible" when the top is down. The floor is full ACC rubber front to back, and there is sound deadener and heat shield underneath all the way back. There is also Eastwood sound deadener on the bed sides. Seats are vinyl. Back seat is newly reupholstered, the fronts are full-size van seats that were reupholstered 3 or 4 years ago. It is easy to clean, just sweep or hose it out, and very quiet for a truck of this kind. You can actually have a conversation or listen to the stereo. The console is original, and big enough for a small cooler. The truck is clean for what it is, but not detailed like a show car. Whenever it was "Form versus Function", function won every time. Way too nice to be a mud racer, clean enough to "look tough" and not so clean it doesn't look tough. (If that makes sense.) It's something you can haul brush with, pull a boat to the lake, drive trails, or just cruise. Good shape but not great. For example, the paint looks really nice, but I never buffed it, and it is just single stage. Figured easy repair (this is a 4wd truck) was more important than a show car finish. There are minor things like the mirrors have some scratches and the mirrors are going bad around the edges, the grille has a few small dents, and the console could be refinished. Good enough for cruise night, but not so good you wouldn't take it out on the trails, or haul mulch for your wife. Definitely good enough to get a lot of attention. People actually take pictures of it when it's out, (for real, I'm not making that up!) and a lot of people stop to compliment it. The Trailduster is in the south Kansas City area, on the Missouri side. Will show by appointment. I absolutely will not sell the top separately or any other parts for that matter. If you have a 0 or 1 feedback, please contact me before bidding or I will remove your bid. Please do not bid unless you are serious. This is a real auction, starting at way less than I think I'll get, with no reserve, and I will not sell it before the auction ends, so the highest bidder gets it. Thank You and Good Luck! **More photos available at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/78863109@N08/?saved=1 The truck is ready for a road trip, so unless you are really far away and time is an issue, plan to fly-in and drive home. On May-20-12 at 09:10:33 PDT, seller added the following information: The truck has a clear title in my name and is currently registered with "regular" (not collector) plates. Missouri does have a safety inspection in order to gain registration, but this part of the state does not require emission inspections. However, the truck is a 1974, and I believe no state (including California) requires emission inspections for a truck of this age. Depending where you are, this can be a huge advantage over a newer truck. So titling & registering the vehicle as about as easy as your local DMV allows to be.
