Vehicle Detail

LRA Enterprises Presents….. 1970 Dodge Challenger 383 V8 1970….probably one of the most iconic years in the muscle car era. It was also the beginning of the end. The EPA was starting to lay down massive restrictions and regulations and by 1974 the muscle car, in its true sense, was no more. So the BIG THREE decided to go all out and make 1970 one of the most memorable years for muscle cars. The race was on and he who can produce the best design, who had the most vibrant color or flashy decals and pack it with raw power would earn a page in automotive history. What the BIG THREE took for granted or maybe didn’t realize at the time was that this era of vehicles would be the most collected, the most sought after and the most talked about vehicles of all time. Legends were born in this era and egos were certainly crushed during this time as well, but for cars that stood belly up with each other during this time started the birth of future collectors. Exterior: You are viewing a great example of how cars use to be built. Wild colors, sharp striping and a bold appearance that was the norm for 1970. This Challenger has it all. This was the base Challenger for 1970 with a 383 big block and a/c. The color has been changed to a two tone plum crazy purple that gives it a nice “driver quality” appearance. There are some imperfections when you get up close, but attracts a lot of attention on our lot. Also when you get up close you can notice some bubbling on the lower quarters. I would describe it as a 10-15 footer . The striping on the car along with the hood design are flat black to mimic the T/A, but this was just the base Challenger. The hood was flat blacked as well and there was a bolt on hood scoop with no larger holes cut through. It’s the original hood on the car. I believe the original color of the car was red. Again, you are not bidding on a 100pt show car, you’re bidding on a great driver that you can drive anywhere including local car gatherings and cruise nights and not worry about people touching it. If you want a trailer queen, this is not the one. You’ll find those in other auctions well over $50k. The floors for the most part are solid except for the drivers foot area. It was a little soft, so we put a little patch in it. I can’t stress enough, the car looks great and can be nit picked, but if you want to own one of the most iconic cars from the 1970, drive it and enjoy it and don’t want to spend a ton of money, this would be the perfect candidate. Please ask as many questions as you like. Interior: The interior of the vehicle is actually all original. Original carpet, perfect original dash and even the seats are in excellent condition with some minor separating at the seams. All the gauges work and it’s the non rally dash. The only real option is the a/c. Please keep in mind what I said, the interior is original and in very good shape for being 42 years old and having 94k miles on it. This car would be something you can climb into and enjoy, not worrying about spilling your coffee or your kid’s soda. It’s all intact minus some vent fins. All the glass is clear and original with minor scratching from years of use. Drivetrain: The drivetrain is the 383 block. It starts up and runs great. The torqueflight tranny shifts great and engages fine. We check to see if it was numbers matching #’s engine and we found casting number of 2468130 DNLL and there is a number stamping under the motor mount that we can’t read. We do see however, a tag that was put on the block indicating the motor was rebuilt at some time. The previous owner claimed that the numbers were matching but we cannot not confirm or deny other than the casting matchings we mentioned. The exhaust does have some leaks but not bad. All the tires, brakes, shocks, belts and hoses are all road worthy. This is a factory a/c car with all a/c components still intact. The a/c compressor does not engage when turned on. There is the main power line that is broke right after the harness on the compressor. Might be an easy fix, but wanted you to know. Again, a great driver. Not a 100 pt. show car. But a car that could be driven daily and if you decide, can be driven while you do a professional restoration. Please ask questions or if you're local come by and check it out. Payment: We would ask for a $500 deposit via paypal immediately after auction ends. Full payment due within 7 days or unless previously discussed. Thank you in advance for a smooth transaction.
