Vehicle Detail
This is a 1971 Scout that originally came from California. Mileage shows 68,061 and unknown if that is actual. We had purchased it from someone that bought it out west in the desert area and brought it back and was going to restore it. It sat in his barn nearly 20 years as he never had time for it. Although this is believed to be a Scout2, others that know Scouts say this may be a rare 810 model. A couple of the things that are different from a standard Scout2 are the glove box has a push button knob, the Vin tag is on the air cowel and the emissions sticker is on the hood. The interior is in great shape with the rare seat pattern, the seat has some wear on the drivers side, side panel, but not on the cushion area beside a seam stich. Rear seat is really nice. Dash pad is crack free. I did put a wood grain gauge cover on it but also have one that can go with it that is not the woodgrain. I installed a new pre molded carpet kit in the passenger area. The cargo area of the scout is painted and is nearly scratch and dent free. I made the headliner for it and looks great. All glass is good. This is really one of most solid scouts I have seen. It was repainted it's original color with clear coat and looks show quality which is the 1st repaint it ever has had. The entire inside of the passenger area and cargo area was stripped and repainted. The underside of the Scout has not been painted and has the original paint under it and amazing shape. There was no rust in the body mounts or inner rockers or above the rear wheel arches or in front of them. The doors shut and open great with no sag. The brushgaurd on the front was on it when I bought it along with the hitch. Mechanically runs and drives good. I have rebuilt the carb (I do adjust it periodically), new plug wires, spark plugs, coil, distrubtor cap & rotor, regasketed the engine etc. It is a 345 4 barrel with a close ratio 4 speed trans, 3:73 ratio, 19 gallon fuel tank. The axles are disc in front and drum. Brakes are fare. Radio (Am/Fm) and lights work fuel and Temp gage inop. The tires have abou 90% tread. Exhaust is good shape and quiet. After putting enourmous time, money and effort in this scout I have decided to sell it as we are retired and would like a convertible Oldsmobile, the top is to hard for us to take on and off all the time to drive around for a convertible, plus we have another old truck. I am lucky to get it out to a couple car shows or parades a year. You are more than welcome to come out and look it over and take it for a test drive, it needs a couple little odds and ends. Pickup and delivery responsible by the buyer. $250.00 non refundable deposit due within 24hrs after end of auction. Final payment due within 7 days. Payment to be made via cash or paypal or wire transfer. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions you can call me Darrell: 517-490-3176. I am not a expert on Scouts by any means but I can tell all I know about this one, most importantly how rust free this one is. This scout is in mu opinion is incrediably straight and clean and will make someone else a rally nice show vehicle as I have really enjoyed taking it to car shows and parades around the area.
