Vehicle Detail

Up for auction is a 2001 Explorer XLT for Parts or Repair . Only 2 owners, we bought this SUV with 10K miles on it. Current Condition: Is NOT running and must be towed. It is available for parts or repair. When engine was last was shut off it was running fine. Now the engine will no longer turnover. Starter works as the engine will turn very slightly. Since no noticeable engine trouble was evident (no loud bangs or sudden lockup), my suspicion might be a timing chain, but I am not a mechanic, so do not go on that premise. General Mechanical Condition: When vehicle was running, the engine did not leak or burn oil, the transmission is solid and shifted fine. 4x4 still works. The vehicle had no leaks of any kind. Brakes and rotors are in good condition. With the exception of the ABS light remaining on, all dash lights are off. Exterior Condition: The vehicle has minor surface rust, but no holes. Gas cap area has bubbles. No discernible dents but typical scratches you would see on an 11 year old vehicle. This vehicle has not been in any accidents Interior Condition: This is a non smoking vehicle and interior is in very good condition with the exception of a bleach spill on the storage area carpet in the back. Cloth seating has no rips or stains. What still works: Power seats, windows. Mirrors, and locks, CD, keyless entry,4x4, heater. What does not work: Rear hatch button, driver side door unlock button, AC air temperature change barely noticeable. Recent work within last 3 years: Power steering leak repaired, new ball joints, new brakes and rotors, Rear axle replaced, U- joints, replaced both front wheel bearings. Front tires (about 40% - 50% tread remaining), new battery. Recent work within the last 8 months: Replaced muffler system up to converter, two new rear tires, compete engine tune up and a used alternator was installed. Overall comments: This vehicle has been a very solid vehicle for us and has many good parts to offer from it. From a mechanic’s standpoint, I have to believe this vehicle is very repairable and should pass inspection, if the engine was running. As I stated earlier though I am not a mechanic, so this needs to be sold as-is and the engine issue is unknown.
