Vehicle Detail

History: This 1973 Olds Cutlass has been in my family since 1976 when my father purchased it from an Olds dealership in Chicago as a previous trade-in from the original owner. My dad became the second owner. My parents took the car and us kids and moved to Arizona in 1976 where the car has been driven since. I taught my mother to drive using another car; and when my dad died, she became the owner of title and drove the car very safely with no mishaps. When my mother (now deceased) became too old to drive safely, I became the titled owner. I have used nearly the same individual mechanics to repair the car since 1976. I have the repair records since 1997 in hardcopy. The odometer is broken, and I cannot make an accurate total of mileage. So, my listing of 300,000 plus mileage is a fair estimate. The Condition: Currently, the car is not running. I drove the car last on Saturday March 31, 2012 with no problems. On Sunday April 1, 2012 the engine would not start. The engine would turnover but would not fireup. The probable cause: faulty fuel pump, faulty carburetor, distributor, or coil. On Sept. 1, 2011, I had the last service work performed which included: oil change with Valvoline 20/50, radiator flushed, fuel pump and water pump replaced, rear shocks replaced, and new battery installed. Also, in Sept. I had a new muffler installed. Additional repairs were recommended which includes: transmission fluid and servicing, needs new drive belts, upper & lower radiator hoses, and heater hose. Also please note: transmission selector shaft seal leakage, new PCV hose and several engine vacuum lines needed. the cruise control unit has damaged cable. The speedometer needs new cable. The turn signal switch is inoperable sporadically - replace turn signal switch. The overall condition of the body is very good: no major dents. The car needs to be repainted. As I show in one photo, chips of bondo broke off recently at the front headlight area on the driver's side. In the late 1970's, my dad and a motorcyclist collided (no injuries), and it caused damage to the headlight area which I had repaired. Despite the fact that the car has been in the Phoenix dry climate since 1976, the roof metal is rusted thin. I was shown its condition when I had a new, gold-colored, vinyl top installed about 17 years ago along with new vinyl seat covers front and rear. The original plastic dashboard is cracked and color-faded. The plastic steering wheel is also cracked. The rubber around the doors and windows is dried and broken away. Other than the plastic, door side panels, all the plastic and rubber items are dried, cracked, and in need of replacement. The odometer and speedometer are broken. The airconditioning is faulty and unreliable and should be repaired. The five tires are in good condition. The spare tire and jack tools are in the trunk. Besides using the same excellent mechanics for 36 years, I have use only Valvoline fluids: 20/50 all-climate motor oil and transmission fluid. I have used only 89 octane-special blend gasoline. I changed motor oil every 2,000 miles. The car has all original chrome trim, and I will include another set of chrome window trim which I took off from another Olds in a salvage yard. The engine is the original, 350 V8 Oldsmobile. I have never had any interior engine repair work - has not been necessary. The engine has never been removed, rebuilt, or mechanically altered inside. The carburater is a 4-barrel. The transmission is a 350 Turbo. Other than the weathering effects (heat and dryness of Arizona) on the paint, plastic, and rubber components, I have taken very good care of my family's car for all these years; and I thank my excellent mechanics also. I had the car repainted about 17 years ago with the same maroon color as the original color. But now, the paint is faded and cracked. For polishing and waxing, I always used Meguiars brand. The car's interior is free of cigarette smoke. Please note: This car is old and needs numerous mechanical repairs and cosmetic upgrades. This Oldsmobile has been an excellent vehicle, and I am sorry to sell it. It has the potential of being restored to beautiful condition with the help of a correct, new owner. Features/accessories: I will include a second set of chrome window trim (front and rear) which I removed from another Oldsmobile in a salvage/wrecking yard. I will also include an unused, muffler resonator. The spare tire and the jack tools are in the trunk. Payment and Shipping: I will accept the deposit only via PayPal. The balance of the purchase price must be submitted to PayPal within 72 hours of auction close. PayPal assured me that the full payment can be processed via PayPal. Afterward, I will sign and notarize the title and write the buyer's name and address in the transfer section of the title, thereby complying with the Arizona State Motor Vehicle Dept. The buyer must arrange for the transport of the vehicle from its pickup at my apartment to its destination and pay for all shipping charges. The car must be picked-up from my apartment complex no later than June 9, 2012. The buyer must arrange and pay for the insurance coverage, if any. I will not accept any returns of the vehicle or its parts. I am offering my car for sale in its "as is" condition. Please inquire with your questions, and I will respond as quickly as possible. I will release the title according to the guidelines of Ebay Motors. I will communicate with interested parties and the buyer only through Ebay email. The only foreign countries that I will sell and send this vehicle to are: Canada, United Kingdom, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Germany.
