Vehicle Detail

Parts vehicle. I bought this running Scamp GT to be used as a parts donor. I drove it for three tankfuls of gas to detetrmine if they really would get the advertised 40 MPG. I got 42, 40 and 39. I parked it and started looking for a rust free body, which I have not yet found. This is the Scamp GT (less than 800 were built). The interior is very nice. The seats show minimal wear, no rips or tears. I was told they are leather, but am doubtful. The dash pad has no cracks or splits. The guages all work. It has the console with the sliding top. The door panels are also very good but the passenger panel is missing the speaker cover. The radio is not original. It has A/C which is complete, but not working. It has the hood scoop, bed rails (not currently on vehicle). It has all the chrome moldings, unfortunately, they have been painted. It has the GT wheels with trim rings and caps. The Plymouth letters are missing from the hood. It has the Scamp badge on the tailgate. The front grill and bumper are very good. The tailgate and rear bumper are very good. Body is obviously rusted with a very poor repair job. It has the original 2.2 and 5 speed manual transmission. I have a file folder with receipts showing repairs over the years and articles from magazines when it was new. I thought I better get it running again. I bought a carb kit, but the carb had some damage, so I bought a rebuilt carb. I am unable to draw gas from the tank. I think it is a collapsed fuel line. It is not running at this time and I don't have time to further trouble shoot. I have the title in hand. The registration is current. When viewing vehicle history a problem shows up. This is when the odometer turned over. The odometer only goes to 99,999.9 miles. The vehicle shows 51,000 currently, which I assume is 151,000. Buyer will need to bring trailer or towter. Currently stored inside. Downpayment ($100) will be required through paypal. Balance due in 7 days. Vehicle is located in north central Iowa.On Apr-25-12 at 20:07:39 PDT, seller added the following information:04/25/2012 I want to thank all of you who have viewed my auction. I have been getting quite a few e-mails about the body. I thought of it as a parts car, not thinking there would be interest in rebuilding. I am not a body man, so I will tell you what my untrained eyes can spot. The right side door sill and quarter panel have what appears to be fiberglass laid over it. The is some delamination. That area is painted in an off color. The drivers door has bubbling on the bottom. The hood has a spot weld that has popped loose. Both floor pans are shot. I have been asked about the frame. I don't think I ever looked under it and the Scamp is stored 60 miles from here. I tell people that with the visible right side "repair" and the bad floor pans, I don't think it would be pretty. The Scamp has been repainted completely (before the above repair), a good job, which may hide damage my eye can not see. I have seen vehicles with a lot more problems put in pristine condition. My ability dictated me buying it as parts donor, hoping I could find a good body needing mechanical attention. I hope this better descibes the Scamp GT.On Apr-28-12 at 14:00:25 PDT, seller added the following information:Saturday, 04-28-2012. I drove to where the Scamp is stored to take some better pictures of the body. I have added 12 more. 8,9,&10 are showing the poor paint match and terrible repair job I've explained. 11&12 show the inside of the above pictures and tailgate, Bed is very good with no signs of repair. 13 is the right door which is perfect. 14 is the left door armrest which I did not remember being cracked (vinyl). It is missing the speaker cover which I did previously mention. 15 is a duplicate (oops). 16 is the left side which shows no sign of body repair. 17 is a close-up of the left door sill with shows no sign of repair. 18 is the left front with all tires very equal. 19&20 shows the tailgate and bumper which look very good. Again I am not a body man, so it is possible I missed something. I did look under the vehicle. As I mentioned the floorpans are bad. I was surprised to see the frame was in good shape. I did notice the paint/undercoating had cracked away from the metal behind the shakle on one side. The exhaust appears to be near new. The shocks have good paint and show no leaks. If I remember correctly it has recent brakes. I took a picture of the bed rails and missing badges, but somehow missed putting them on. I will recheck and try to add them. I hope these pictures add clarity to my description and satisfy your questions. If not write and I will answer. Again, Thank You for participating in my auction, Jerry.
