Vehicle Detail
What we have here is a truly unique Suzuki Samurai. This 1988 Suzuki Samurai has been professionally converted to a diesel. It has a Kubota 1.3 Liter V1305E 30 horsepower @ 2700 RPM four cylinder liquid cooled indirect injection industrial diesel engine mated to a stock suzuki samurai 5 speed transmission which utilizes the stock samurai clutch (this is due to the kubota flywheel having been machined to match). It has a a roll cage and looks like a jeep wrangler with the top off! Now, on to the details, This rig starts and runs perfect. The motor when installed was completely rebuilt and I mean everything! It has custom motor mounts and a proffessionally built adapter plate. It has the deep well oil pan and holds quite a bit of oil, I believe somewhere around 2.5 gallons. All the lights work, the horn, the heater, turn signals, temperature guage and it even has an oil pressure guage. It has four brand new 31x10.5 tire MT Mud tires just installed, It used to have 235/75/15 Mud tires and it was better in 5th gear but because of the gearing, at 55 mph it was at 2500 rpm - which is ok, but I wanted the look of bigger tires. I had a friend buy the 235's, so they are gone. It has two custom built bumpers in order to haul deer out of the woods in the rear and provide a winch on the front. It has a triangle tow hitch that bolts right up with ease and therfore can be pulled by a car, truck or an RV, tractor, minivan at any time! The front lights are LED and the rear break lights are LED as well, the rear tail lights are not. The rear bumper holds quite a bit of weight as you can see. The samurai has pulled my trailer with an atv and two deer no problem but of course that is only in 4th gear up to 45mph. The two front seats are trash with cheap camo covers but they look alright, the rear seat is ok but has rips. It has no carpet as these soft tops tend to leak, but the body has been spray lined. There is no radio and in the radio spot there is the engine cut off (fuel cut off lever) and three guages (battery, temp and oil) the oil is the only one working and shows excellent oil pressure although the factory temp guage is hooked up and works fine. The front shock steering dampner is new and so are the four rancho shocks. It runs and drives perfect, but rides like a jeep or a samurai (pretty stiff). Both the transmission and transfer case have new shifter sheets in them as well. It has a 5 speed Samurai transmission from a low mile 1991 with the lower fifth gear ratio and a brand new indestructable transmission mount and new rear main seal in the transmission. All oils, the front and rear diffs and the transmission have all been replaced in the last month. It also has a 230 dollar Yellow Top Optima Battery! All I can say about this rig is that it is super reliable and built to last. It is a neat little four wheel drive 4-5 passsenger atv/suv that is diesel and sips the fuel. I have been getting over 30mpg just driving around town. I just had the injectors rebuilt as well as the fuel injection pump and put on a new fuel return rail and new lines. The brakes are in good shape, I just replaced one side on the front with brand new brakes and have the other side as well, but they were over half yet. The brakes are stiff compared to the factory set up with no vacuum (you can see it in the picture) it stops fine, but if you want a softer brake pedal you'll have to buy an optional 150.00 electric vacuum brake pump I think its irrelevant with a 2000 lb suv that stops on a dime without but some people like soft pedals. There are no surprises with this one, it is reliable, dependable, simple to maintain - just add diesel and keep oil in it and maybe change the fuel filter from time to time. If you have never had one of these Suzuki Samurai's, i will have to say that anyone can work on them, I have have had four of them and they are so easy to maintain although the gas models can become a headache with the carburetor issues and sensor problems. You will not have that with this diesel converted samurai!! This rig is a beauty due to the following: 1. Rust free 2. Diesel 3. 4 wheel drive 4. Excellent fuel mileage with a ten gallon tank 5. Roll Cage 6. Excellent heat compared to gas Samurai’s 7. Perfect Beginners Rig to deck out with all kinds of options like stereo, cb, nerf bars, half doors etc. The sky is the limit with what you can do with these things, but you need to have the right one to start with. Don’t buy a junked out one that has rust or is in need of serious modifications, this is the one you really want! 319-930-8578 I need this thing gone, make me an offer I cannot refuse!
