Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a real 1969 Dodge Cornet Super Bee. A lot of detail went into the build of this car. This build took about 5 years to complete with nothing but pure power in mind and to give the strong impression of “MOPAR” whenever it is seen. Starting with a shell of a car, the body was stripped and all necessary repairs were made. The car was painted using high quality paint (PPG Nexa Autocolor) base coat/clear coat Viper Red and polished to a mirror finish, and adding a reproduction super bee stripe. We had the door handles shaved and added a remote entry. For weight savings, I added a fiberglass lift off hood and a fiberglass front bumper, rear bumper is shaved and was chromed. I had all of the cars trim and grill polished and detailed. I also installed all new glass. The only ones I keep original were the small vent windows. Wheels are 18" custom special ordered Foose’s rims with Nitto drag radials. Interior was ordered from Year One, new carpet, seat covers, door panels and headliner. The dash was restored by Just Dashes (this was the very first dash they made with the gauges in the dash for a mopar). Also a custom polished roll cage with a 5 point harness seat belts. Engine is a 1966 block that was boarded 40 over and the crank is a 10/10 forged steel that was balanced, and I-beam rods. Wanted to go supercharged we contacted Bob at the Supercharger Store who gave us all of the recommendations on the engine build. We purchased their supercharger kit including the water injection system for insurance. Engine has Diamond pistons, total seal rings and a custom grind Comp Cam. I also installed a pair of Indy aluminum heads, topping them with a set of Mopar Performance valve covers and a Weiend single plane intake. Feeding the engine is a 750 Holley carburetor designed for a supercharger. Exhaust is handled by a set of TTI ceramic coated headers. Going with the red paint scheme we used all of MSD products ignition box, coil, wires, distributor and alternator to finish off the engine. Cooling we added an aftermarket radiator and an electric fan. Using all of Aeromotive fuel system to make sure this engine does not starve, using ½ inch braded fuel line and installing a fuel cell in the trunk. I have only used Royal Purple synthetic oil on this engine. Transmission is a Keisler’s KTO 5 Speed with a Pistol grip shifter and a Lakewood bellhousing. I also purchased new aftermarket clutch, pressure plate and flywheel to transfer the power to the back. Rearend is a new Dana 60 with 4:11 gears with a limited slip unit. Holding this in place are some Mopar Performance Hemi leaf springs and I installed some Competition Engineering Slide-A-Link traction bars. We also installed Competition Engineering adjustable drag shocks on all four corners. The front suspension was rebuilt stock with new updated disk brakes from SSBC, and we used Energy suspension bushing for the car. We got a new steering box from Flaming River for a good firm steering feel. The Bee is 95% complete, it still need some small details to really finish it. * Windshield wiper are not connected *Turn signal switch replaced *No A/C or Heater (but windows do roll up and down) *Original Dash is not connected because we were planning to do an aftermarket set. Car was built to be driven and enjoyed, plus it runs on pump gas! We had the car put on a dyno for tuning, with a conservative boost the car showed over 500 hp at the rear tires. In other words the engine makes over 700 at the crank! The 440 has the capabilities of making more hp with just a change of a pulley. I have entered this car at Mopars at the Strip show in Las Vegas and was picked to participate at the Cannery Casino Car Show (you have to be asked to attend this evening show) the following year we were picked to participate in the True Street Challenge that is put on by Mopar Muscle Magazine. The Bee was chosen to be on the cover of their magazine for that year’s show! This car is scary fast and stand out like crazy at any show, cruise or on the street. I want my car to go to a good home for someone to drive and enjoy it as I have. Feel free to give me a call on my cell for further questions on this car 915-799-1843.
